So, if we don't win the Prem..

I would definitely, not just because we didn't win, but because for the second year running we have failed to capitalise on the relative weakness of our opposition.
If Chelsea win this year, and it's looking more and more likely, it will be even harder next year when Mourinho gets the players he wants to fit into his system. Don't forget, he's still making do with the players he inherited and they still lack a decent striker.

The biggest thing that's pissing me off about getting knocked out of the champs league tonight is that we prioritised a game that was always out of our reach, and it cost us a place in the semi final of the FA cup, and our players will be mentally and physically drained for our game against Hull, and that could cost us the league too.

Don't get me wrong, I was delighted with another trophy, but it's small consolation for the big prize. I'm not being a spoiled **** either, I remember the bad times, and I don't want to go back to them. I just think we are a different club with higher targets, and unfortunately we are falling short of them.
With this squad and with the current state of our rivals we are underachieving.
We're not "ickle city" anymore and we should rid ourselves of that attitude were we are grateful for just being there and competing with the big boys.

Utterly perfect response. +1,000.

I'd call it a disappointment but not be of the mentality to blame anyone in particular. We had some bad breaks go against us (dominated Villa and lost somehow, the Hart/Nastasic cock-up, etc) and it seems as if Maureen has had nothing but fluky things going her way. I still remember how Andre Marriner just decided to award Maureen an extra point against Albion with one of the most egregious displays of bent officiating I've seen this side of the two-legged tie with these UEFAlona twats.

That's football. It happens. I try to look at it that the football gods will toss us a few crazy things next year and take a few away from Maureen.

Come on mate, we've had a bit of bad luck but the best team wins the league over 38 games, there can be no doubts about that. This is why the league always takes priority over everything else, because cup competitions are a lottery. We matched Barca for large spells over the two legs, but the sending off in the first game effectively killed off the tie. If Chelsea win it with no top class striker, Mourinho deserves credit (but not loads of it coz they're boring as fuck and he's a wanker).

-- Thu Mar 13, 2014 2:04 am --

Course its not a failure. A trophy (maybe two if they channel the obvious rage from tonight into beating all before us for the rest of the season), some valuable European experience, a chance to see who is and certainly isnt good enough, a first season in a new league under the managers belt.

We. Will. Fuckin. Fly. Next. Season.

Mate so will Liverpool, arsenal, rags and Chelsea they'll all be in transfer market. We're not thd only ones with cash.

If we don't win the Premiership the reason will be our away form during the early transition period, which is perfectly understandable.

Next season will be the true measurement, and I think it'll be a good 'un.

Money aside, we've got the best first 11 in the league by a distance.

Not at all. I'd be disappointed for sure... But wouldn't see it as a failure. I still think we're playing at much higher level than ever before and that's really all that matters in my book... Sort out the weaknesses in the summer and then next season will be the one worth judging. Can't see us not taking the world by storm if we handle this summer correctly.

It really does depend on how we end the season. There are no excuses now, no European football, no cup games, nothing. Players are coming back from injury, it even seems like Aguero's is just a niggle. They should be firing on all cylinders for the remaining games and if we go for it but just miss out, i'm happy-ish. If we fuck about and lose games we should win (Cardiff, Sunderland, WIGAN and even Chelsea) then IMO it won't be an improvement from last year. The opposition are not brilliant, consistency across the board for all teams has been non existent, this is the year we should've walked it.

No, nobody is entitled to win the Premier League. As good team as we are, there are other very, very good teams and 3 of them have very good league season to prove they are good.

Apart from few early cockups that could be excused for new managers and lot of new players gelling in we won most of the points we should and in many seasons this could be enough to be top of the league easily or at least have a single club to compete with. But as season is as good as strange as any there are three out there and any of them could still win it.

League Cup was won, certain progress made in Champions League, the only bad thing was losing at home in FA cup by bloody Wigan.
