So, if we don't win the Prem..

No, because I'm not a spoilt ****.

What does our expectation as fans have to do with the talent in our squad? I certainly hope our players don't think anything like yourself.

I fucking hope so too. They are professional footballers and if they have had my pessimistic view of how Manchester City can snatch defeat from the jaws of victory the Aguerooooooooo would never have happened.

Domestic cup double might have been a saving grace or even just FA cup and a close second in the league. But in any case why was Mancini sacked to get exactly the same result.

The only two tournaments that really count are the Premiership and the Champions League. We are obviously not good enough to win the Champions League having been outplayed by Dortmund, Bayern and Barcelona over the last two years so our overall quality is below that level. The Premiership is less clear cut, on our best day we are probably the best team in the League but we have too many bad days. We lack consistency. Beating Norwich 7-0 on aggregate looks good but we only got 4 pts from the two games. Two 1-0 wins would have got us 6 pts! A poor United side won the title last year and an average Chelsea look to be grinding out a win this year. I think we lack a professional hardness and possibly lack character too. Kompany was immense yesterday and shows what's required. We need that sort of energy in every game and if a player wants to pick and choose what games he plays then we need shot.

I think we overrated ourselves when we were on fire in the middle of the season. There were people saying we were the best team in the world (fans and a pundit) and we clearly aren't. We aren't at that very elite level just yet. Still too manny weaknesses, not enough depth and not enough belief.

It depends how we do in the league. If we wimped it away then I will class this season as a failure because we could do better than that. If we put a great fight up and miss out then it's a different story.

We've still got a great chance to win it despite having the most difficult run of games of the teams who can win it (who are Chelsea Liverpool and us, for me; not Arsenal). So let's give it a fucking good go!

More than a quarter of league games to play so it's far too early to assess that campaign. We'll probably drop points along the way but so too will our competitors.

This business of we should win the league with the squad we have is just the starting point for disappointment. We should win everything every year in that case and even teams with the best squads in the world don't do that. We should be challenging for the league every year - some years we will win it, some years we won't. It's a sport after all. Same with the cups, including the CL, although that will take longer before we can really compete.

So, top four consistently, the odd cup and progress year on year in the CL until we regularly make QFs, SFs and the occasional final. That will do me.

All this nonsense about we will win the league this year, no problem, we just have to click, wait and see. Pure delusion. I said in the autumn after those poor away defeats that top 4, maybe a cup and progress in the CL would be a good year for me. I guess most boxes are ticked as far as I am concerned.

League this year would be good though!

Would you regard the season as a failure?

There is a long way to go, but do you personally regard winning the league cup and gaining CL football for next season as a successful first season for Pellegrini?

For me, its a no, for all that talk a month or so ago after trouncing Spurs away about how we could potentially score close to 200 goals, domestic treble's (which I believe a lot of us thought was doable) and how Pellegrini had us playing some of the most exciting football in the world. I wouldn't want to see the manager sacked, but I think one league cup in two years is simply not good enough for a team possessing this much quality. Plus, I believe it will only get more difficult once Mourinho buys the top class striker his team craves.

Its all very hypothetical, but do the rest of you think we have to go on to win the league to regard this season as a successful one, or would you regard it as a good start under our new manager?
Yes

City should have won the League comfortably with the players at our disposal.

We have had injury problems to deal with: Aguero, and Nastasic.

I think Pellegrini's judgement re Demichelis was flawed, but he can recover from that.

It's important we respond now

Its not about us wanting more. Its about what is expected of us. Some pratts (none city) truely think we should win every game and every comp.

Ill just be glad we wrapped up a trophy just to shut fookers up .

I think the league cup, quarters of fa,gettin out of the group in that shite champs league and givin it a good go for the title but fallin just short would be reasonable.
