So just how is Baconface going to "put this to bed"...

I dont think letting him rot would reflect badly on the club one bit. Rooney chose to go public with this and he's now also made comments about the players he's playing with....

If he disrupts the team and no longer wants to play for the club fuck him.

I think it says a lot about his character really. His form has been shocking since Bayern last year and rather than get his head down and work his way out of it he seems to be looking for someone to blame.

Comments about respecting the club and its history in one breath and then questioning ambition in the next are a little inconsistent. And thats leaving aside the fact that he himself was bought at 18, Beckham (who was arguably our biggest name at the time) was replaced by an 18 year old Portuguese prospect, Evra, Vidic, Nani, Rafael, Fletcher are all players who came to Utd and developed into first team players... none were 'stars' bought in for big money, and thats before you even consider Giggs, Scholes, Neville etc....

Two things we lacked last year were an additional bit of firepower and an extra body at that back, Smalling and Hernandez have been brought in to address those issues and both look capable of developing into top players.

In short Rooney's argument is bollocks, its about the money.... even if you accept what he says then why have his advisors leak it to the press to create this shit storm? Why engineer a public argument with Fergie over the injury?

He wants out, bit shit but fair enough if thats what he wants, all his comments are just a face saving exercise so he doesn't look like too much of a mercenary and so his 'brand' maintains its earning potential.

The whole thing could be a long con constructed by United to deal with the current perception (and reality) of their situation (debt, our progression, their lack of top quality signings, etc).

They construct some shitty story with Rooney behind closed doors - create a division which then sets the context for a big public reconciliation, in order to try and establish some sort of narrative - that they are still the main club, with the big players, and still have ambition. This then galvanises some of their fickle fans and attempts to deal directly with our threat to them this season. 'No way Rooney was ever interested in City', 'Utd still the biggest club in English football' and all that bollocks. Fergie performs an oscar winning speech at the press conference, rooney respons, meeting publically declared, then they react to the very problem they constructed themselves in the first place.

Ok, conspiracy theory. And likely a load of bollocks. Just offering a different take.

the rags usually keep everything in house, wherever rooney goes fergiescum will spill the beans, he will do his level best to destroy the boys status.
fergie is an evil twat, a deluded fucker with no class.

if you are reading this mr glazer please dont sack him, i want to watch him squirm as we overtake his aging crap squad.

This is what keeps cropping up in my mind. It could be a way of getting the Glazers to spend big.

No chance, it would do Rooney's reputation too much damage both as a brand and with Utd fans, many of whom never want to see him in the shirt again.
