so the cup scheme then

I don't want anything to do with a system which rewards newer, richer fans at the expense of those who have proven loyalty stretching back decades.
what on earth are you rambling on about?

the scheme was free to everyone

Sadly I'm one of the suckers that goes to every home game no matter how much they bleed us dry and I will be signed up in every cup scheme next season.

You don't need to worry about the cup scheme, just join a small supporters club and you'll get a ticket anyway...........tin hat on!

Not necessarily true.

Our branch have our own loyalty points system (one point per meeting attendance)
And for example with this FA Cup Final, 12 members applied... 7 were succesful.

So we then based the 7 tickets we got on giving to members who were most active at meetings.

I'm on the Committee of the Branch and a few times I've put my name down for a ticket and not been successful so it's a complete myth that you'll always get a ticket through a supporters club.

Other branches may operate differently.

FAIR SYSTEM: cup scheme subscribers should be awarded temporary 'loyalty' points (e.g. give them 500 points that are then taken away at the end of the season), with all tickets then being sold solely on the level of points that a person has.

apologies if this has already been addressed by the club but, provided that each individual has a set number of points (e.g. 3/4/5/6 thousand), groups of up to five people should also be able to qualify for tickets based on the average of their combined points total. it's important that city acknowledge and understand that the primary reason most people go to games is to share moments with family/friends, which the cup schemes in their current state will continue to make more and more difficult.

the inconsistency of it all is another issue. i got something like 60 or 80 points for going to a £15 cup game two years ago. how is that anywhere near fair for the season ticket holders who, for whatever reason, didn't go to that game?!

the club must be foaming at the mouth at some of the posts in this thread.
Fair is not how I would describe your system. Are you suggesting you could have 4 mates with decent points who could buy a ticket for their mate with hardly any points - just because the "average" is high? BM would need a forum for people points sharing!

my 'fair system' was more to do with the allocation of temporary points to incentivise new attendees whilst also being fair to those who have already shown their 'loyalty'. my idea isn't geared towards benefitting me -- it's just that the current system is so obviously unfair as it works on the basis of 'you only deserve to see city lift a trophy if you've paid us money this year'.

regardless of that, my 'average points total' idea is still fair -- i just think you might have misunderstood it. let's say that you, your dad and uncle want to sit together at an away/cup game. you've got 7,500 points, your dad has got 5,000 and your uncle has got 4,500 (so the average points total is 5,833). the club would stipulate that, to qualify for tickets, individuals must have a minimum of 4,000 points each. it's not flawless, but would increase opportunities for supporters who want to watch city with their friends/family who don't have the same level of points. our current system is too restrictive in that sense. plus, in this day and age, it's not like the guy at the ticket office would have to be einstein and get his pen, paper and calculator out -- he inputs the supporter numbers and gets a green or red light.

jeez, some people need to think before they post

So members of your branch got tickets who didnt have the required number of loyalty points to get them direct from the club?

Dunno what the fuss is about the cup scheme. Personally i think teh club have handled the selling of tickets really well.

Was obvious at the start of the season, we would be in with a shout at getting to wembley, if some fans thought they'd rather not commit to going to the cup games, fair enough, dont mard arse about not getting final tickets then, you made your choice.

Spot on, I'm a lazy bastard so the cup scheme is great for me, no need to worry about forgetting to get a ticket.

Do people want a compulsory scheme like the nobheads down the road?

I don't know what their LP's are.. You'll have to ask them :)

I'm certain the children who applied didn't meet the LP criteria.

This is all to do with FFP. The sheikh doesn't need to fill the stadium to push the club forward. He doesn't need to offer Platinum ST's at £50 more. He does need to increase turnover to meet FF fucking P and you can't blame the club, blame Platini, the Rags, UEFA, Bayern Munich and all of the other scared parties in European football. If they had left things as they were we could have £10 tickets for all cup games, fill the stadium whoever we were playing. We wouldn't need cup schemes etc.

Third parties have fucked it up. Not the club.

They are making the best of things beyond their control and unfortunately some people feel they have been let down.

well as long as we have a system in place where attending meetings at your local pub overides actual loyalty points people will always be unhappy
