As I said yesterday, look at The Premiership Years on Sky when it's on, and it's littered with examples of times he has screamed when a shot on United's goal has happened. If his aim is to protect the brand, why did he do that? Why scream Agueroooo? And don't say to protect the brand, because this entire thread is about protecting what United bring to the brand, so why didn't he say 'Aguero has won the league, big deal', and then commit suicide live on air? (extreme, I know. I'm in an extreme kind of mood).

You'd have to have the passion of a stone if you didn't scream Agueeeeeerrrrrrroooooo in that instance. The single most incredible moment in PL history.
A quick search instantly brings this up, i'll find more i'm sure:

If his remit is to ensure United are bigged up all the time in an attempt to use them to protect the PL brand, shouldn't he not have done this?

This statement is exactly what he has done.

There are a few games left and just enough time to turn it round. They have been shot all season, why say this now?

He should never have said it. If Utd put on a run, the fingers will point to this statement as the rallying call.

Pidge it is there in black and white from the Chief Executive of the Premier League. What do you think he is saying?
I have seen the article and it is a silly thing to say, but it doesn't prove anything has gone on. Let's not make the mistake of thinking united haven't had squads capable of winning titles, and more importantly the manager to do it. The fact they have the same squad but not the same manager now and find themselves a laughing stock suggests ferguson is responsible for those titles. It's not like they have had 20 years worth of average players but have somehow win the league 13 times. They've deserved the titles they've won just like arsenal, Blackburn, Chelsea and us have. If there was a bias to ensure united were kept top each year, then the trophy woukd simply only have their name on it since it's inception, or let me guess, others have been allowed to win it so it's not too obvious?

It's not silly, it's monumentally stupid. He puts the rags being successful and having a fair competition on a footing with each other. Just think about what it means for the Chief Exec of the PL to say that. It's staggering.

You surprise me you really. I have no doubt you are well educated and a sensible, but you just don't get it do you.

The number of points in the majority of seasons that they have won the league that have been gained through benefitting from dubious refereeing is significant, but hey each to our own eh?

My argument; is I believe there are grounds for investigation to prove or otherwise that there has unfair play at hand.

As for Fergusson, his bullying alone, making referees and officials too scared to give decisions has been worth a handful of points each season. And add to this the Premierships reluctance to take action, only doing so when there is absolutely no alternative and to portray the appearance that they are unbiased - sorry, thus corruption of the highest order, and you will probably find similar threads and posts on most teams forums/Websites.

have you seen them play?! Have you not witnessed 2 of the top 3 teams wipe the floor with them on their own patch of late? It would take refs randomly sending off opposition players and awarding inexplicable penalties for them to go on a run which goes against the form they have been in most of the season. 3 penalties, (three), were awarded against them 2 weeks ago at home. It would have been easy as pie to not award the 2 after the first one, if Clattenburg suddenly had 'the voice' in his ear reminding him where he is, who he is reffing and to remember what was wrote on the self-destructing letter of instructions last August.

-- Fri Mar 28, 2014 12:12 pm --

As i'm sure you are too, but there is only one of us livid to the point the police should be called into investigating 5 of the last 10 PL titles.

“There’s lots of fans around the world who wish Manchester United were winning it again, but you have to balance that off against, generally, we’re in the business of putting on a competition and competition means people can compete.”

Pretty dangerous line of thought.. No generally about it Richard, it first and foremost a competition. Don't let the global appeal of one team poison the well.

Great vindication to be found for some though. As Ducado says above, it's only what plenty of people (not just blues) have been saying for years.

Thats a shocker of a statement by Scudamore.

There is no balancing to do. The wishes of Man United fans around the world should have fuck all to do with a sport that has integrity.

SPOT F*CKING ON Moomba.

Scudamore just sounds like a typical rag who wants rid of Wee Davy , sounding off from his privileged position to give it weight.

Apart from the fact he's a Bristol City fan you mean?

and Spencer is a bury fan, and not a single 'elite' referee supports a premier league club.

True but I take breaking the law seriously, but let's not personalise This. I shan't waste anymore time trying to convince you, you clearly think there is nothing untoward going on, and that's fine.
