Bit late, but I had predicted that all the group winners would go through with the exception of Argentina. So far that has been the case, but the Holland vs Mexico and the Brazil vs Chile were much closer than expected.

I still would like Brazil to win, but I struggle to see how they can beat Colombia. Colombia need to have an off day and Brazil need to be brilliant.

Perfect scenario would be Nigeria or Algeria to beat Holland in the Final.

I would also be happy with Argentina or Belgium to win

Ideally Costa Rica as I got them in the office sweep and it would round off my treble this year of the Grand National sweep and winning the ipad Air at the Xmas party!

They looked awful for the first 2/3 of the game.

I don't see a stand out team. Just hope Brazil don't win it by default, they really don't deserve to.

As England are out I don't really give a flying. one with the least city players USA would do 5 nil against Germany in final.

I wonder if thre will be a surprise ? Not been particularly impressed by Brazil, Germany, Holland, or Argentina, but it wouldn't surprise me one bit if that is the semi final line up, but I'm hoping for a surprise or two.

Overall though some great football, and great excitement.

I'd like to see Columbia or Costa Rica win it.

I'm fed up of the old boys winning things, and for some reason, despite Vinnie's presence, I just can't warm to Belgium. Maybe it's seeing Fellaini and Hazard there, I don't know.

All 4 quarter finals look very tasty . The only match that looks nailed on is the Holland match . I think this will be the end of the road for Costa Rica .

To be honest, as long as Germany don't win it then I'm relatively ok with whatever. I work for a German company and the thought of even more smugness is unbearable. They already like to micro manage and tell everyone how they know how you can do your own job better, so a German victory would just make my work life hell for weeks.

If Costa Rica win the thing it would give some vindication to the fact our group was harder than we expected and we managed to get a draw with the world champions, but to be honest that is not going to happen and it would be cringeworthy if it did, just to hear the English media saying tit is not so bad after all.

Belgium or Columbia for me ideally, Brazil have too many big names with big heads (ok, mainly just Neymar), Argentina have struggled and scraped through games, but I'd rather either of them than Holland due to Robben's cheating theatrics.

I got 8 out of 8 for the round of 16 but the QFs are much harder to predict. If you were to substitute Chile for Costa Rica I think
that you'd probably have all 8 of the strongest teams left so there should be a least 3 cracking matches. QF predictions:-

Colombia
France
Netherlands
Argentina

Friday & Saturday should be great viewing. I doubt I'll get 4 out of 4 right.

If Belgium's first 11 play to their potential he may not have to make any decisions.

Argentina were my favourites to win but they have let me down big time in this tournament, they rely on Messi far too much and for me they look a team of great individuals, especially up front, and their midfield isnt great apart from Mascherano.

Argentina seem to score when they need to though and even if the team is having a shocker they have enough match winners to come up with the goods so I still think they will be there or thereabouts.

Belgium have the best squad in my opinion, nobody has the amount of top quality options they have being able to come off the bench and that could see them go all the way.

Would love Colombia to win as they play great football.

Brazil are not great in my opinion and if they were not in their home country I reckon Chile would have seen them knocked out. I would love to see Fernandinho lift the trophy but at the same time I would like to see someone else lift it other than Brazil.

Germany are a decent outfit but I still don't know what to make of them.

France have surprised many and what they have in their favour is a well balanced team that can defend pretty well and looks like it can score goals against any team, so who knows.

Holland look the best counter attacking team and for me are favourites to win because of that, I just don't want to imagine the English media love-in if Van Gaal comes back to United as a World Cup winner though.

Costa Rica, can you imagine it??

Belgium or Argentina for me.

Costa Rica, Columbia, Belgium, someone new please!!! Really impressed with these 3 teams, maybe not Belgium so much as we all know they have good players, but as has been seen, having world class players doesn't automatically mean the team is going to perform ( see Argentina, Brazil, etc...) France have shown that a settled team that clicks will go far with a little luck.
I'd love to see Vinnie lift the World Cup, failing that Columbia or Costa Rica, just to give everyone a dose of World Cup " anyone can win it" magic!
