couldn't let this go, sorry if its been done.

from the guardian.

Ferguson has, of course, spent big since the Glazers came in, with the team that started against Swansea City on Sunday costing only £1m less to put together than that sent out by Roberto Mancini against Newcastle United earlier in the day (£165.1m compared to £166.1m). But it has been evident for some time that the centre of United's team has needed bolstering and having spent big on three players in that area – Michael Carrick (£18.6m), Owen Hargreaves (£17m) and Anderson (£27m) – within a 12-month period up to July 2007, Ferguson would clearly have addressed the situation if it had been within his powers to do so.

Just tweeted to ask him. At a guess I doubt he has the courage to reply.

ha ha, I'd never seen that before. Immediately goes high in my list of all time great headlines. Still don't think it eclipses this (non city related) one though:

There's absolutely no doubt in my mind that if we win on Sunday, then we've bought the title. However, so has everyone else who has won it. You can't win the title without spending - the only difference is that we've done it in a very short space of time.

Oh, can't believe Anderson cost that much!

me to £27 million, thats more than either Yaya, or Silva!

Laugh at any fucker who says we have bought the title. Few years ago all they said was you can't buy success

1992-2008 MCFC average transfer spend = £10.3m per season

1992-2008 the shite average transfer spend = £21.6m per season.

2008-2012 saw an accelerated spending programme to enable MCFC to compete effectively after 16 years of mismanagement and underfunding. The unprecedented level of spending required to bring us up to scratch shows just how badly we were mismanaged in that period, how far we had fallen behind and how much of a closed shop UEFA had become.

Interestingly, that period of rag dominance was when they had their so called golden generation coming through the ranks, they still spent 109% more than City each season.

In conclusion, they are just a shower of bitter pricks who've had their day.

Had this arguement with a red family member ...(he married in, my cousin has zero morals as I've told her on too many occasions to mention)... at our bank holiday get together.

After about ten minutes of him saying his bit about how City have bought the title and that it stinks and how we're not that good cause we're level on points with them and how FFP will sort us out in a year or two, blah, blah, blah, (you know, the usual media injected arguements that they all seem to repeat like some sort of mantra); which I just took with my usual stance of raised eye-brows and the occasional "Yeah, I know" comments; he comes out with this cracker.....

"..and all these dick'Ed blues saying that we've spent as much money as they have seem to fail to understand that ALL the big money players we've ever bought were after we won the premier league so we didn't buy it did we, they all came to enjoy some of the success that they were destined to have by playing for a great club like Un*t*d"

I lost it, laughing so hard I almost spat my beer out over myself. I just said....

"Don't you remember Big Ron then? Remember Bryan Robson? Remi Moses? Frank Stapleton? Jesper Olsen? Alan Brazil? Gary Birtles? Peter Davenport? Gordon Strachen? Terry "Fucking" Gibson? Remember them do you? All prized away from their clubs at over inflated market value for one reason and one reason only... to buy the league.... and how many FA Cups did big fat Ron win for you? And how many years did it take him? He tried his hardest to buy the title and failed, so you f*cked him off and got that scotched up piss'Ed in to try again didn't you. Remember Neil Webb? Mal Donaghy? Mike Phelan? Danny Wallace? Gary Pallister? Steve Bruce? Paul Ince? Paul Parker? Again it's the same old story isn't it, spending big to buy the league, and eventually it worked didn't it. But you don't remember all that do you. I know so much more about your pissy little club than you do it's f*cking laughable. I could probably name ten more players if I really tried but I can't be arsed and you probably don't even know who the ones I've just named are, do you? I tell you what, why don't you f*ck off over there and talk to the women about shoes or something, 'cause you know less than f*ck all about football you prick"

No response! What a surprise. Clueless tw*t.

I think I made my point as my rag-loving cousin is now not speaking to me and seems to think that I was out of order, but the smile on my 73 year old blue dad's face was priceless, he didn't say anything, didn't have to, he just smiled, walked past me, patted me on the back, and led the rag away to his mrs.

The reds have very short memories when it comes to spending. Remember the 5-1, their staring 11 cost more than ours.

No we haven't bought the title (yet), but I'm hoping by Sunday we will have - just like every other team that has won it.

This bollocks about them 'only spendinig the money that there success has earned them'.....

1) who fucking cares where any money comes from. I dont recall this level of bile when chelsea spent in sums never seen before.

2) united took full advantage of the marketing oppurtunity that the munich air disaster offered them. Sorry if that sounds harsh.

3) hows about the government funding there redevelopement plans for the world cup in 66?

as other people have mentioned, they no fuck all abouit there own history whilst constantly telling us that we have none!!

I hate them so fuckin much and will embrace the coming years of playing second fiddle to us!

COME ON CITY

We have bought the title. Yes, we cannot argue with that, but you can argue the fact that so has virtually every other team, maybe with the exception of Arsenal.
