Paris is a fantastic City, the bars are on the expensive side in the Centre but like most big Cities the further out you go the cheaper it gets. I went with Mrs Hammo a couple of years ago and it was around €6 for a drink on average but on the Champs Elysee two bottles of beer was €20. We did find a cheap bar opposite the Pompidou Centre where Kronenberg was €4 a pint, only small and a good atmosphere but after about 6 pints realised it was a gay bar! Do as much touristy things as possible and use the underground, great value and efficient. Don't bother with the Louvre though unless art is you bag, it's busy and the Mona Lisa is underwhelming. We found the Parisians friendly and nothing like their reputation, you should have a great trip. Can't wait now.
Going with my brother and a mate on the Tuesday (08:45 Flybe) back on Thursday (07:20 Flybe). Booked in a hotel in the 3rd Arr next to a met stop all for just over £210 each.
