Soccer Saturday Sackings

The difference in football panellists, advisers, co-commentators etc with the bias/cliquey outlook compared to on the main how horse racing is covered by well informed agendaless people from within the sport is a massive.

Not watched Soccer Saturday for quite some time as they never had anything relevant to say, liked a bit of rag/dip arse licking & City bingo....similar to talkragshite.

Aye what's the world coming to when a white middle aged man can't be absolutely shit at his job, not even do the bare minimum amount of research or preparation for about two decades, then spout a bunch of conspiracy theories without eventually getting fired? Worlds gone mad. After all, the previous middle aged white man who he took over from had the job for life iirc.

Either that or all pundits have a shelf life and all get moved on to Talksport eventually, these three just had a surprisingly good run, considering their complete lack of competence and professionalism. The only surprise is Merson is staying on, presumably as he's probably still working off a tab at Sky Bet so doesn't cost them anything
They’re absolutely shite and needed to go for ages but they haven’t gone for ages and suddenly are being moved on in 2020 when it’s almost against the law to not have minorities on TV.

You know full well that Sky aren’t doing this now because of performance, they’d have got rid years ago if that was the case.

Sky have already ensured that every panel, which is currently only 2 due to social distancing, has a black person on, 50% when they make up 3% of the population and this will be a further push to ridding our TV screens of white middle aged blokes.

What percentage of professional footballers are black? Surely that’s more relevant.

Alex Scott’s depth of knowledge is embarrassing. Listen to her next time shes on. Shoe horning people into jobs just to fit the narrative is a joke. She’s on a level with the infamous talksport caller who thought Antti Niemi was Scottish.

I don't mind Alex Stott if I am honest, rather her than that shouty scouser with the awful mullet.

Football banter from the panel will end up like an episode of Ellen Degeneres with "love bites and everyfink" before long.

33% are BAME, focusing specifically on black players it’s a lower number obviously but that’s current and not retired.

In 1992 it was half of that so pundits are naturally predominantly white due to who’s retired.

I think it’s good to see representation from all areas which will be achieved through honest and fair opportunities but clearing out white middle aged blokes because they are just that is wrong imo.

Black footballers as pundits were increasing anyway before this hysterical year because more have been players in the last 20 years than ever before.

I’m sure we’d all prefer it not to be forced, it’s why we end up listening to Ashley Cole.

It doesn't matter to me either way because I don't have Sky Sports, and I never will.
The whole set-up is antiquated, a relic from the past that has had its day. It is a formula that is so rooted in the 80's and the 90's that it is struggling to be of relevance in the 21st century. The idea of tv pundits sitting in the studio, poring over video footage of a player taking a free kick is laughable, absolutely laughable. Or someone like Jabba the Hut (Garth Crooks) telling us that if a team is winning 1-0 and the opposition equalised then the score would be 1-1...FFS!

It's spread to other sports as well. You watch a bit of horse racing and you'll get Clair Baldwin sitting in a studio with about three other pundits talking about how long the grass is around the first hurdle.

It's cringeworthy watching these people struggling to justify both their presence and their wage packets by talking about trivial irrelevances that the viewer has no interest in.

To Jeff Stelling and his colleagues, it's 'banter'. To the rest of us it's insipid, vacuous, puerile nonsense - and we have to pay for it.
