Soccer Saturday Sackings

If they haven’t been sacked and just removed from that position then there’s nothing the three can do but a private company cannot just sack someone, who’s been employed for more than 2 years, for nothing.

You can do them for wrongful dismissal.

I have said I don’t know for sure and I am presuming but the presumption is based on circumstance.

Where have I said I don’t have a problem with bad white pundits?

I think alot of these people on Sports telly are 'freelancers'. I know that is certainly the case with most on the BBC and BT

They can if they weren't hitting targets, such as how many twitter shares and likes their opinion's were getting, etc.

Which is more plausible than the meltdown many white men are having over some perceived injustice against white people and men.

Guess I'm assuming you're fine with these terrible pundits staying on air and are not fine with them replaced with terrible pundits who's skin may be black?
I have no problem with pundits being replaced but I do have a problem with it if it’s due to diversity campaigns.

I think it likely is, you think it likely isn’t.

Let’s just say it is, that Sky had a meeting and said “we want the old middle aged white blokes out now, let’s replace with minorities”.

Would you be happy with that?

Why would anyone have a problem with Sky getting rid of 3 utterly shite pundits and replacing them with minorities?

Because anyone from the minority background can't do a worse job than them 3, so it's gonna be an upgrade whichever way you want to slice it.

You're acting like Sky have removed 3 of the finest pundits to ever grace a studio. They haven't, they have just got rid of some deadwood is all. And long overdue as well.

Plus, if I'm watching a panel show of any kind I'd much rather see a broad range of people/experience/culture represented. Variety is the spice of life, unless you're a miserable Daily Mail reader.

I think TV companies have a responsibility to represent thier audience, particulary if they are looking to grow markets in Women's football for example and reflect the growing number of women who attend games

You also need representation to show these types of roles are accessable to minorities which then allows the 'best person for the job' argument to florish

Let's take formula 1. If it is full of flambyount middle-ages Italians and French men, my daughter(mixed race girl) could potentially see any career in Formula 1 as a non-starter. However, there are now plenty of women in the pit-lne so a career in F1(as unlikely as it is) does not seem the million miles away it once might have done.

Same goes for drug services in Wythenshawe, no point having a building exclusively full of middle-aged middle class white men there from Alderley Edge, you need to reflect the community and show these servcies understand the background of the people they are hoping to help

Here’s hoping Dwight Yorke gets one of these slots then, for people saying it couldn’t get any worse. Heck, get Stan Collymore too...

It's a straw man argument that you, and thousands of white men like you on social media, have constructed in your head and are getting all worked up about.

If I say yes then you get to see it as some victimisation of white men, if I say no, you'll just disagree.

Where all your arguments fall down is that Stelling and Merson have been retained, Carragher kept his job, Neville, Keane, Souness are still there. There are other regular pundits like Paul Walsh, Stephen Warnock etc. The vast majority of on air people are white.

The reality is that it's redundant format, probably has lost ratings over many years so they want to shake it up and there are many people out there that still have huge problems with seeing black people on their tv.

I assume that's not true for TV contracts. Jeremy Clarkson wasn't sacked for example, they just didn't renew his contract. I think contract-based work is pretty standard in TV otherwise you could never write a character out of a soap opera just because the actor has been there for over 2 years.

Get carragher off the TV please. But we all know they've GOT to have a scouse representation. They believe that accent is associated to sport above all other. Scruffy bastards

If that is the case then obviously they don’t have a leg to stand on regardless.

It’s a hypothetical not a straw man.

You won’t answer it because you know it’s the wrong thing to do.

As I’ve said countless times, I’ve weighed it up and given Sky haven’t been unhappy with them for 10-15 years but suddenly are in 2020, when the whole BLM thing has happened and given they’ve already pushed to over-represent minorities on their other panels, suddenly 3 middle aged white men are removed and replaced, I think it’s too much of a coincidence.

I have specifically said it’s an opinion based on the above but I cannot know for sure at this stage, I’ve also said if it comes out that I’m wrong I’ll admit it.

I’m not upset or feeling the victim, I just think if that is why they’ve been removed it’s ridiculous.
