Someone Asked Me THE Question Last Night...

I was wearing my City shirt on holiday shortly after we'd won the title. A southerner said scathingly, "And how long 'ave you soppawted 'em lot, then?" I simply told him the truth, but with a pause which might have misled him, since he clearly thought I meant the match of April 30. "My first game was the United match...PREGNANT PAUSE...when we beat them 5-0 at Old Trafford...SHORTER PAUSE...in 1956."

I've had the "crawling out of the woodwork" comment.
My reply "that's rich coming from the likes of you who've been crawling out of the sewer '92".
I laughed heartily and walked away with a jaunty gait.

Why Always Ste said:
Yea tried explaining how I was there when we were shit, how my grandfather was there in the 1940's, etc etc....

Rags are not reasonable and are bitter gobshites... they will not accept this.

I have learnt now anyway, anytime one of them dirty chavs ask me when I started supporting City I just say 1st September 2008 ;)

Right, Ste. We are not to come on here rattling about titles and supporters' longevity until we have 19 titles in the trophy room!

Lived and worked in Chester for the last 13 years. A fucking horrible senior manager and Villa fan asked me if I supported Chelsea last season about a month after Mansour took over

He said we would never win anything - prick would love to see the fucker again as when FFP came in later and i knew what the club were doing I stated we would qualify for the chimps league in three years. He laughed with one of his direct report Everton fans and they genuinely didn't think we would do it.

Well we won the title. They fucked him off to senior manage another department in Ireland

Living in Chester now (Red country) it's fun to walk around with in sky blue. I had the "coming out of the woodwork" comment at the last derby. I just smiled. After the match, I smiled again.

It's just so much more fun than actually saying anything.

For those City fans who really are "coming out of the woodwork" - who can blame them for keeping their heads down for the last 20 years? I was lucky enough to move to the US in 1993 just as "the darkness" was descending over English football, so I didn't have to put up with all the crap from tossers at work and in the pub who rubbed their success in our faces year after year after year. I take my hat off to those of you with the strength of personality to loudly proclaim your loyalty and withstand the tidal wave of red shite for all these years, but don't be too harsh on your brethren who might well feel as strongly about the team, but just couldn't bear to remain in the firing line with no hope of us ever turning the tables.

Of course, if they actually started supporting one of the Sky 4 instead of just laying low, I say we round 'em up and shoot the bastards...

The truth is that I grew up a glory supporting red (my family were blue) until the day that we beat stoke but were relegated to the third tier and I realised (age 13) how upset I was. I realised my blood was blue and that I had always liked City because of my family. So I became a fully fledged blue... and although as a scum fan I'd always quite liked City, as a city fan I found it really easy to HATE the reds!
