Weight of expectation. This along with the change in personnel which means a different mentality. Nothing is more tiring than being of one mindset and tactical awareness and then being forced to rethink. Too many people saw Mancini as the messiah and he would wave a magic wand and have us playing like a top 4 team overnight. The harsh reality is that he is also human, like MH and dare I say it, he needs time to implement his ideas.He has (quite rightly imo) given as many players a chance to show what they can do as he could. He's far from realising his ideal team selection and until he gets it right, if indeed he does, we are going to blow hot and cold. A sports psychologist may help when we have the tactics right, but not until then imo.

Hence what we are crying out for - stability - the players need to know that a manager has faith in them and they have a long term future in the side and the manager is there for the long term. The non signings of Gago and Mariga (not that I'm blaming the club) are bound to have sent the message that the manager doesn't rate certain players in the side and that in turn could have affected their mentality and perhaps more importantly confidence.

However, the discussion on here is extremely premature, our form in general is pretty good and we are still in with a very good shot at 4th.

I just wish the City fans would concentrate their efforts in supporting the players instead of slagging them as stability is a key part of us being successful. I doubt can show me a club that wins things when their is instability surrounding the club, bearing that in mind it amazes me why City fans always seem keen to stir up a crisis where non exists.

I would agree with this as well, it would be interesting to compare which team has the ages of squads, with regards to how long the players have been at the clubs, for the whole league. I bet ours would be the newest squad.

So why not give Mancini 3 and a half years and stop laying into him after 6 weeks?! honestly, it's now ingrained in the fans to call for the heads of the staff after bad results, it's a vicious circle and will only continue to hurt us as it has done for years unless we grow out of it.

Back Mancini, let him manage the club his way, give him the time and money he wants to get his own players, own squad and right the wrongs of Hughes reign. He's a proven top class manager, you can't argue with facts, and his transfer market past is mouth watering. It's just time we dropped that "typical city" attitude and grew up as a club, and as fans.

Expectations are sky high now, plus the media wants us to fail (fans are influenced by the media so much more than they think) so i think even the fans feel under more pressure for us to win, because everyone seems against us. I think this is why people are so quick to turn against players and managers now, combination of expectation and pressure.

I agree with you, i think unless a manager is failing catastrophically, they should get 2 years as an absolute minimum, preferrably 3.

Mancini can't put his ideas and tactics in our players heads overnight and it click. He doesn't yet know the full rights and wrongs of our squad, though he knows there are noticeable shortcomings. Also these players he has are not ingrained into his way of thinking, may never have played in the same style as Mancini asks and are ingrained to playing the way Hughes got them too ie. Loosely. At the moment it seems half and half, and I have no doubt that Mancini knows who he wants in and out to make his tactics work and plan successful, which is why I think a raid of Inter and Italy may not be too unrealistic in the summer.

I know I trust him 100%, he's proven and successful. I just wish other fans would have such belief and patience.
