Arguably the Top 3 youngsters in the Premier League at the moment were born and raised in Stockport.

Foden, Palmer and Mainoo. All Stockport lads.

Surely this can't just be a coincidence?

Cole Palmer - Peel Hall, Wythenshawe, Manchester

I sold a City shirt on eBay once to a “City_Lee31” type account and he lived in Stockport. I did smile.

Palmers wasn’t born in Stockport, but I think he was brought up in Gatley.

I think one of the main reasons for the high number of top players is that there are still a large number of kids football teams and amueter teams. A lot of places in say Manchester have lost that.

I also think having areas which are pretty working class (lots of those in Stockport) often helps to produce players like foden or palmer.

He's never lived in Stockport, he did though go to primary school in Gatley.

I’m sure I heard somewhere that Bury had supplied the most number of players to play for England?
