Songs that bring a tear.

Mike and the Mechanics - In the living years

This gets me every time I hear it, played at my grandads funeral. I was 12 at the time when he died and was staying at his flat because my mum was working nights, he had been feeling "off" most of the day, he decided to go sit at the top of the steps to get some fresh air asked me to open the front door he said "thanks Neil" and by the time i got back up to the top of the stairs he was dead from a massive heart attack.....

I've been overcome by certain songs/pieces of music many times but I have had to be in a certain state of mind to begin with.

Probably the only song which really gets to me though and thankfully I very rarely hear it is John Lennon - Beautiful Boy. It was played at my cousin's funeral. He was killed crossing the street by a wreckless driver. He was called Sean and if you are familiar with the lyrics at the end John sings 'Before you cross the street take my hand. Life is just what happens to you, while your busy making other plans.' Poignant doesn't describe it. I remember looking at his dad and thinking, I bet he played this for his son when he was young.

Me,mum and sister nursed my dad to the end at home due to throat cancer. The Macmillan nurses told us the last thing to lose would be his hearing.Moving experience.
Anyway.....Coldplay fix you....gets me up every time.
Dire straits brothers in arms.
I will wait for you.....Mumford and sons (popular at the time).
Anything by queen makes me smile as they were his favourite band.
