I thought we had a family stand to attract more younger fans when we were shit and a lot less glamourous. Now we are challenging for trophies and playing nice football do we really need playstations (playstations in a football ground ffs) on the concourse etc to attract younger fans?

Is it not also to keep the kids in a more friendly environment? Less aggression and bad language for instance.
Exactly, some parents are very particular about swearing and it can be a scary environment in certain areas of the ground. You also have those that don't want loads of kids sat near them so a special area for them is the ideal compromise. The again if freestyler wants me to come sit next to him with my four year old daughter and do princess drawings with her and play ponies then it would be great. She would chew his ear off all game ;)

Christ - the grumpy old man thread returns.

I sit in the Family Stand with my kids and there aren't any empty seats around us - anyone got any pictures of this?

The only empty seats I regularly see are in the corporate section of the CB stand.

So Grumpies - 'Leave those Kids alone'!

I sit in the family stand and agree that we should be able to sit anywhere in the ground and the kids prices should be the same all over the stadium. We were more than happy in the East Stand but was priced out to the family stand.
Even in the case of sitting anywhere in the ground the same people would be missing for these matches, just would be dotted about rather than a straight line of seats.
For me though these kids our are future and all these parents that come on stating the fear of their child becoming a rag due to playground pressures, taking them to the match and getting them involved is the main way it works, having seen it first hand.
I would hate any parent not being able to have this opportunity.
Theirs no prouder moment than sharing a goal with your child hearing them sing City songs.

It's not just a Family Stand problem though. There's a group of us in there with our lads and there are very rarely any empty seats/non-attendees around us. However, there are non-attendees all around the ground at any given game. This is also exaggerated by the 'doubling up' in the singing sections, leaving empty seats elsewhere.

As a previous poster has stated, we were quite happy where we were sat previously, with junior seats the same cost throughout the stadium. We were priced out and the club enforced our move to the Family Stand.

I'm quite happy with my front row, 2nd tier seats in the family stand. Even if the bloke next to me swears like a trooper in front of his and everyone else's kids. I don't pretend that swearing doesn't exist, cos kids hear it everywhere else, school, streets, etc. I would not be happy if I was forced to move to inferior seats because some busy-body isn't happy about what goes on at the other end of the stadium. Why are YOU embarrassed about SOMEONE ELSE'S empty seat ? As long as you turn up, why does anybody else matter ? Go to the match, watch the match, sing-if you want to, don't sing if you don't want to-then, go home. Simple.

Newcastle only 3 days might refresh your mind, and that was a 3pm on a Saturday afternoon.

Wigan on the 17th April will be another prime example.

Secondly, I read someone mention a Dortmund style kop earlier in the thread. I'm not too sure if it was meant as a joke, but I would see this as a decent fix.

It wasn't meant as a Joke.

I'm serious on the subject of Safe Standing.

From looking at your username you may be not in favour of my main idea which was to move the Family stand into a smaller area next to the aways (117 etc)

And as said create a safe standing area behind the goal directly opposite the away fans for everyone who wants to stand/sing.

Being in 109 we all stand and sing yet the club have this nazi stance of forcing us to sit every 5mins.

I would hapilly move behind the goal in a safe standing area, and not be pestered every 5mins by Showsec.

Well I'm in 212 which is like south stand/east stand corner, but technically ticket says south stand. I would definitely move there if we made that. I'd keep the south stand and kippax corner as it is but then have a terrace along the north stand as well.

When my middle lad turns 16 in two years we are moving to 211 hopefully
Great idea mate, heres one though which will run out first family seats or rest of the ground . Are there more turning 16 that have to move from the family stand than people giving up seats or the other way round. For every kid that has to move an adult goes with them
