SOS NHS

My son has been in Nicu for 3 weeks hopefully home tomorrow, the NHS have been heroes I've seen daily the struggles of lack of staff on the ward. It is ran off the kind nature of the staff feeling guilty for not staying past shifts etc.

They deserve so much better and I fully support them.

Agreed.

Sad to hear about your son being so poorly.

It's a mess and will require restructuring, as well as more money. This makes me nervous as I don't trust the politicians and those who advise and influence them (lobbying groups and the right wing think tanks).

Went with the missus today to an appointment that has already been cancelled twice to find out its been cancelled a third time but no phone call, letter or email. Nothing. Absolutely frustrating for the missus but what can you do? I've been waiting for my knee to be sorted for over 12 months. Service is on its death bed.

Looking at private health care options this afternoon. Only way we're going to get anywhere.

My wife has worked for the nhs for 4 years her trust has restructured three times and counting, it keeps some fucker in a job who then moves on after screwing around and you know what nothing changes apart from less people to do the jobs!

Not a restructure of the organisation. I meant a restructure of healthcare. Apologies for the confusion.

A lot of organisational restructures are simply rearranging the deck hairs or putting more on frontline staff. I know as I have been through a few and about to be involved in another in the next three months or so.

Happens in the private sector too - one place I worked for was always at it. I remember one young thrusting exec who became departmental head who got us from all over the country to two days at the Belfry whilst he could lay out his 5 year plan for us. Two months later he moved to another department.

Another one came in from a rival with a reputation for restructuring ( sackings and slimming down ) - he was true to form did loads of staff reductions and outsourcing to cut costs. Two years later ( after he had moved on to another rival with a pat on the back and another "successful restructure" on his CV ) and the business rather than saving cash was haemorrhaging vast sums of cash as they guy responsible didn't understand the business enough and the bosses he was selling his ideas to didn't get the concept of the cost of the outsourcing contract they were signing and how much it committed them to paying third parties to do work for them for which they had given away control over.

Management consultants - so called experts and so on are a stain on UK industry and its economy. All that I am describing relates to 2010 onwards.......and they wonder why the UK economy suffers from slow growth
