Great decision from the lino there

for what?

i'm still trying to work it out.

Is this another FIFA rule to ensure they get the results they want. "A carnival of Football", as in staged.

Was thinking that too, whats to stop a team from putting the goalkeeper on the half way line and putting a defender on the line in case they shoot from miles away.

There has to be 2 players between you and the goal when the ball is played. Usuallt the keeper is one of these. Because the striker was ahead of the keeper he was offside. It isn't a new rule

For it to be onside theres got to be two players from the other team between you and the goal and there was only the player on the line so therefore was offside

So can someone explain how that was an offside? I mean the disaalowed goal

Keeper came off his line, a SA player, Pinear I think, stayed in the goal, but there has to be another player in there, usually a keeper and a defender, but there wasn't and he was played offside by the keeper.
Not sure that's what he had in mind when he came flying off his line, but in many ways he saved his team.

Thanks for clarification.

keeper ahead of the striker means he's off

But there was a South African player on the line. Perfectly good goal.

That's why it confused me.

Can we expect to see that as a tactic in this WC now it's been done (albeit accidentally) once?
