Southampton (A) Post Match Thread

The difference Kompany makes is astonishing but we all knew that anyway. But he is also a great attacking threat from corners and set pieces and we needed that today to get us started. That first goal was vital.

Special mention for Navas as despite one or two positional errors he was brilliant today as was Ottomendi (again the influence of Kompany should not be dismissed with this)

Kun in a rich vain of form and Silva and Yaya controlling things all over the park

Sane - when he is fully up and running with confidence (and dare I say it a bit of arrogance that is sometimes needed) he will take some stopping.....should have scored in the first half when clean through but got his goal. He has a very unique physical set of attributes that could make him some player....the balance and dexterity of a player like SWP, Silva (low centre of gravity and light feet) yet the tall lean (yet very strong) frame of a sprinter which makes him very unique....(I think i read somewhere his father was either a footballer or an athlete and his mother was a gymnast so its no surprise really) ...he just needs to up his confidence a bit more.

I was willing for Southampton (at the very end) to have a decent effort on target so Bravo could make a decent save just to give him the confidence but hey-ho.

Until the goal it was a story of a few missed chances, and dodgy decisions. The only plus being the way Kompany led the defence.
It was a rout once they came out but lets not get carried away we need to be much more direct against Arsenal next week.
Direct or indirect makes no difference until all bent refs are out.
Pk would've changed everything .

Delighted for Vinnie to get a full 90 minutes under his belt, apparently problem free. Great to see him sharing a goal and deservedly getting the MOTM award. He brings calmness to those around him. Otamendi looked very comfortable alongside him.

Up there with the best for me too, made them look like a non-league side from start to finish.

Absolute quality from City.

It really was that good.

What some have to accept is that whilst frustrating, a first 45 mins like today is part of the reason why we have a 2nd 45 like today's.

Saints are a very good team and we bossed them completely.

Chasing our shadows for 90 mins.

Excellent showing. Controlled the game, led by an imperious performance and goal from Kompany. Seriously, if Pep doesn't rate a fully fit VK then questions need to be asked why not...and Kun worked his arse off again. On that sort of showing, controlling the pace of the game, solid at the back and speedy/lethal on the break we are the best team in the league.

Once more, De Bruyne emerges from peripheral indifference to speedy brilliance. We also got the vital 2nd goal, just as Southampton were starting to look dangerous.
Pleased for Bravo, especially as Radio 5 Live were asking for City fans to ring-in and slag him off

Good performance
The difference Kompany makes is unbelievable, however we need to find the next leader as we haven't got enough of them when Vinny isn't playing.

This is how shit talkshite is, Danny Kelly "we will join Ray Haughton shortly who has just seen City beat Saints at the ETIHAD" amatures
