Southampton (A) - Post Match Thread

A point isn’t a bad result in the circumstances, particularly given the first half performance. Our record isn’t great when going a goal behind, so glad to get something out of it even if it is a game we should probably have won. Still, not going to knock a team that have won 37 points out of a possible 39. Travesty that they weren’t given a red though for that Armstrong challenge. No point in having VAR if an official can look at that incident repeatedly and think it was only a yellow. Absolute bullshit.
Good post and I agree. Winning the league takes all sorts. A point here is okay. We also had a bit of luck as well as being unlucky on a few occasions
It's interesting seeing Grealish playing inside and thought he did quite well. Too many were off their game first half and Raheem had a very poor game but.......memo to some fans - a poor game does not mean he's shit.

Fair enough argue sterling’s case but don’t make stuff up. “More than half those points” dear me
Sterlin was piss poor no doubt about it,infact terrible and any blue out there disagreeing is just in denial, there goal was from a sterlin misplaced pass to walker who was thru on goal, his miss just awful all around performance just a passenger,we were good when he got took off tho,an obviously pep seen it too,but it happens,we move on

Can’t win em all, coming from a goal down to get an away point against opponents we struggle with is a good day at the office imo.

Blatant red similar to Stonesy’s at Villa last year. Inconceivable that VAR didn’t overrule the hopelessly out of his depth referee.

How do you compare the challenge on Laporte which was a yellow with John stones VAR red againat Villa last season.
Yeah mate. I know some given, some not. Wasn’t the reason we drew though. Would we have won if they had gone to ten at that stage of the game? I doubt it. Pep will not be focusing on the referee calls that’s for sure.
you cannot criticise a team that goes 13 unbeaten but we were not great today, particularly in the first half.

studs were up but no contact.
It might very well make no difference in the race for the PL title. The issue is the appalling bias of the refs and VAR in order to try and keep the league competitive (protect the product?), not as blatant as F1 but there is no doubt they are trying to ‘slow us down’.

Pep needs to make these players understand that no one wants us to win, so we need to go out there and give 100% every single game, not halfway through after a ht roasting...
I watched the Everton v Villa game this lunch time and the ref Craig Pawson booked the Villa goalkeeper for time wasting. Never seems to apply that rule when he refs us at the Etihad.
I just burst out laughing when he booked him.

Not for me, looks far far worse in slow motion, Real time shows it for what it is and the players didn't seem to think it was that bad either which is generally a decent indicator. He's gone for the ball and was just late, there's very little danger in that. Can't be sending people off for things like that imo.

Oh I know, no complaints with our form, you'd of course take that every day of the week, I'm just commenting on today as an individual game, and it's one we should not be dropping points in. I know it's inevitably going to happen but it doesn't make it any less disappointing. Liverpool certainly wouldn't have been watching expecting us not to win, it's a big bonus for them. Let's hope palace against all odds can even it out tomorrow, in a weird way us both drawing would damage their moral far more than us both winning.
But you can’t win every game mate can you. You can take 37/39 and if the other team take 39 to take your hat off to them

of course I’d preferred a win but you can’t win them all

So is Raz given what he’s given to the success of our club over the years, and like it or not he’s been a large part of it. The shit this lad gets without being an ounce of trouble is astounding.
He doesn’t get paid £1M per month to not “be an ounce of trouble” though, does he?!

He missed a sitter and played shit. Got dragged off after 57 minutes, which speaks volumes from a manager who rarely subs before 70.

The end.

It looked like being one of those games, thank God we improved in the second half. Could and should have won it but the post and a few fluffed chances cost us. Having said that they were a bit unlucky too here and there. Not a red eh? Take a look at this, sorry if it's been posted already

It was a blatent red, side of knee, cud of wiped him out for 12 months, awfull ref desision but wud rather have laporte fit,
