Seriously, though - reading this thread has come as a genuine, disappointing surprise. Obviously every club has its share of thugs, but I didn't realise that Southampton fans were like this. I've never experienced/witnessed any aggro the few times I've been to St Mary's or the Dell before that, other than when Pompey come to town. I don't accept invitations any more, if I get one to a derby.

It was a bit dicey going back to Wembley Central and in the queue there, which was totally un-policed. Although the only actual fighting I saw was Southampton amongst themselves, which looked like the usual coke fuelled nonsense. How can you sing your support is shit, to a club with an average home gate three times what yours is. Retarded yokels.

Not been to Wembley Central for a while completely changed with the set up. I was there with my son after the game getting funnelled through the back of the station with their fans, all proper gobby saying how bad our fans are yawn yawn, had to just bite my tongue for my sons sake. Thought I’d make conversation with a family of Soton fans beforehand, talk about miserable and again saying how bad our support is and 115 etc , the usual City bingo card.
I just give up now with rival fans, they’re have been the odd exception like Stoke (surprising to say the least) Watford, Sunderland and Chelsea who we have mixed well with.

7 of us took a wrong turn and ended up in the Southampton coach park.
Unfortunately the inevitable happened,totally surrounded and massively outnumbered,
we stood our ground, no runners took a few slaps, 1 bloody nose and a few decked saints. Funny thing about it all was we ended up with a pair of their trainers Nike size 10 and a scabby black top, tried to sell the trainers at Wembley stadium station but no buyers.

i cant remember the season at maine rd if it was 80’s or 90’s? But for the first time I saw Southampton given the small portion of seats between the Maine stand and North stand around a 100 of them the worst support I can remember possibly worse than Fulham. Maybe someone can help confirm this?

Too many Southampton fans were being a bit gobby and worse yesterday. Worse still, one made as if to headbutt our 15 year okd as we walked around the stadium to the station. He certainly doesn't need that but he's ok thankfuly, stoically taking it in his stride and walking away from trouble. He shouldn’t have to, though. I'm not certain it was the coward's girlfriend pulling him away or him pulling out. Big lad trying to intimidate a smaller 15 year old. How brave. She gave him what for, to be fair. Then there were two older ones and a very abusive Scouse (!) one dishing it out as we walked past with the usual lies about our support. I spoke to a more reasonable one later but Southampton have a high nobhead coefficient to say the least. Only United and Liverpool have worse. Always preferred Pompey anyway to be fair.
