What the fuck are they on about? The on field referee could be mistaken but the VAR has the opportunity to look at the incident from several different angles.
Yep. The whole communication should be "from my angle it looked like he got the ball first. He didn't? Well it's a pen and a card then". If it can't solve these then let's just go back to the ref not seeing it and saying they level out over the season.

Better result than performance. Foden, Mahrez and KDB did well. Laporte and Fernandinho not great. Walker gave away possession so often.

Moss was incredibly incompetent, the penalty non decision on Foden shows how poor the premier league referees are. VAR isn’t working because you have an awful ref on the pitch backed by another awful ref in Stockley Park. Instead of using VAR to give the referee another pair of eyes it’s giving 2 fools an excuse to come to wrong decision.
its not VAR its the incompetence ( I won't use the C word ) of the users.

VAR is useless in assisting for fair minded decisions and correct decisions to eventually be made if you have individuals like that involved.

I will give Moss a leave pass as he might not have seen the foul but he should have been instructed to look at it again and then if he didn't change his original decision so to speak then he is corrupt.

Fully agree, it's been a while since a 5-2 win felt less enjoyable, and no I feel no sense of entitlement. Gone was our midfield/defense solidity that brought the most recent of our 21 wins. It was like a bunch of superstars from different clubs, meeting at a strange ground and taking on a good local team. Back to huge empty spaces in central midfield and 1 or 2 opponents running at and terrorising 4 or 5 defenders, a bit like we were last season. We won because we had the better individual players but I would be hiding behind the sofa if we fielded that starting 11 in the CL, playing like that, or against Leicester or Chelsea. I will be pounded , no doubt, but we need to go to Bernie, Rodri, Gundogan midfield with Cancelo & Oleks wide + Foden, Kevin + 1 other as a front 3 IMHO. It has been awhile since I felt relief instead of joy after a 5-2 win, but it could have been 9-6. Bright side is, 14 points ahead and 4 trophies still to play for and Pep threatening to wield the axe. Souness says Var officials are making it up as they go along, very hard to dispute that, it needs a thorough review with referees mic'd up like in Rugby, or better again employ some top European refs to make the Var decisions. Refereeing is not easy but television has exposed too many howlers.
Refs want wiring up alright, but not to a mic.

Give VAR the flick on everything involving a penalty or non penalty if trash adjudicating is the name of game.

I’m a big fan of VAR being used as a safety net to correct on field mistakes, but I can’t explain how this decision wasn’t corrected. It’s bizarre. It’s not like they don’t know we can all see the same pictures they can.

Look on the bright side re the non-penalty...at least we were spared Walton's pathetic analysis...
"No pen there Peter...what is the VAR thinking there?"
"Well, clearly, what has happened is that as Foden chases the ball and approaches Mccarthy, you can quite clearly see him breathing on McCarthy's back..and that contact causes the goalkeeper to slip and accidentally launch himself into Foden's ankle...a complete accident, caused by Foden's initial foul....clearly, the correct decision...no penalty"
"Brill, Peter...thanks for clearing that up"

If Moss is blind, he shouldn't be allowed to officiate surely ?

Think the most important part of that interview with pep there was the points he raised of players wanting to fight for the team and the club...if you don't wan a fight your on the bench
I think it might be a shot at Angelino who has had quite a lot to say recently.

I think whatever happens this season there’s a fairly sizeable rebuild on the cards over the next 12 months. Tonight proved that in some ways. We’ll probably look back at Gundo’s goals in December and January as a pivotal point in the season.

Hats off to Mahrez as I was always against signing him but tonight proves he contributes significantly at key points in games.

Pep was pissed after the match. He finally had a go so thats 2 pens guaranteed for Fulham on sat.

On the game: Mahrez and Zin were fantastic. The midfield was still over run which is a concern. Far too many defensive changes caused instability and the mistakes crept in. I can see why he is trying to put Kev in the team but John , Dias , Zin and Cancelo is the stability that we need right now.

Pep is trying to keep them all happy and it is effecting us on the pitch but it’s his problem to solve. If at the end of the season we win multiple trophies It will be justified.

Anyway very welcome 3 points.
