Southampton post match thread

Our 2nd X1 should be be built upon the talent in the academy, youngsters keen to progress and with a point to prove. Unfortunately our 2nd X1 currently revolves around players approaching the end of their careers and who no longer have the desire and hunger to succeed in a physically competitive premier league.
Spot on

Pellegrini is useless but is nearly gone, it's not as bad as people think for next year.

We have lots of top class players and a good solid spine - Hart, VK, Ferna, Serg, KDB.

The one thing we are badly lacking is coaching, is evident in every game. Even The clowns at centre half I am convinced will look a whole lot better with some coaching.

At present we look as though we have no game plan or a style of play. Pep will implement his style early on and add a few players of the right age and quality and all will be good. The main thing he will do is the let the players know that 2nd best isn't good enough.

At the minute we are to soft centered and 2nd best appears to be acceptable which at this level is absolutely not. At the very least he will have us competitive in every game.

Yep, that's about it .

He's not a miracle worker.

3 seasons he will be off somewhere else.

Any who think he will be beyond that need to put there storybooks away.

He will spend two of those seasons correcting the squad and buying his own players.
Pretty sad, I'm sure that was Txikis job to have a ready made squad for Pep to challenge on all fronts. A job which he has failed miserably.

Dont worry three games to go - now where's that we're gonna win the league thread

Do you realise how sad that statement is?

Still, a defeat gets you and a few others back on the forum so its not all that bad is it?

That's enough though. 3 seasons of him building us a winning squad and winning trophies and when he leaves we can get the next best manager to inherit the squad and continue winning. Our academy should be in pretty great shape too by then.

Serious question. Is there a possibility Pep could crash and burn in this league?

Its possible, but I dont think so because one of his strengths is getting the most out of the players at his disposal. If MP were able to get even 50 fucking percent out of our lot in the league, I feel like we would have had much more of a say in where the Prem title ended up this season.

I think for the first time since the takeover we will take the league by storm in the way we have all wanted to see us do it.

I'm with you on this. MDM, Bony and a couple of others will go, we'll bring in a couple of big names of Pep's choosing and we'll see more kids coming through. If we can hang on to a top four finish, I feel good about next season. The worry for me is that MP is dragging us out of the top four with dopey decisions.

Nothing to do with a defeat. I have been consistent of my concern about Pellers so don't give me that. You do more u turns than bloody David Cameron!

Same old story for this season away from home in the league. Out muscled, second best to any 50 50 and totally all at sea when the opposition have real pace.

Not for the first time the 11 picked played like strangers.

If fans are blaming Pellegrini for the decisions he has taken today, they should read this article.

The article talks about how Pellegrini was disrespected by Real Madrid. How him beating Zidane's Madrid is very essential.
Manuel is after blood. Royal blood. I would withhold all and any criticism until after the 2nd Leg.

So it's personal? Doing the guy a disservice if you ask me.

Don't see us winning both our games specially the Arse one. There is no way we should be resting any of our players cos of tiredness in that one. We have made a meal of the top 4 today. Just don't see us beating Arse, couldn't give a fuck about Madrid away.

F*ckin hell, did you really just say that? What an absolute simpleton.
8 players rested today to leave us fresh for Wednesday, and you don't even give a fuck!? If you don't truly give a fuck about Real Madrid in the Champs League semi then why the fuck do you care about beating Arsenal and finishing top 4, i.e. qualifying for next years Champions League!?
Yes, it was a shite performance today but half of todays team will be gone in the summer. We can certainly beat Arsenal next weekend and, thanks to today's team selection, we'll have a right fucking go at Real.

There was a potential 5 v 4 break, midway through the second half, when Otamendi intercepted a pass, sprinted into the space, and then passed to our supposed most creative player Nasri, who proceeded to slow the game to walking pace, invite a challenge, and then lose the ball.

Utterly bizarre.

Your assuming too much mate in my opinion .

Why do you think it's nailed on he will pull trees up with the squad he will inherit ?
