How many of you are going to try The admiral sir lucius curtis pub in Ocean village just off the bridge crossing the water? I'm thinking of giving it a try

This is my first post in the forum. I am an investor and sports journalist, analyst in my own Abu dhabi based news agency. Furthermore I am a city fan since we took over man city in 2008.
I am following city every game since then. I don't want myself to be called out a glory hunter so please don't get involved in that argument as I will be commenting a lot in the forum from now on. I am not naive when it comes to football because I am a sports(particularly a football) journalist for roughly 15 years now.
Done with my introduction, regarding the Southampton game my prediction is a comfortable man city win. They can't do it every week that's for sure. They must be burned out after that performance against united. They can't afford to play an attacking game against us they they will get punched back quite hard. Play Aguero in at the top,Nasri on the right just behind him and silva on the left with midfield of three (Barry,Milner,Garcia) and we will win it easily.
Welcome to the website, mate. Disregard any comments about glory hunting (apart from the customary 'rag' comment!).

I just watched Roberto's pre-game press conference on MCFC.co.uk. and again the media are way off topic on so many points, and very little time was left to discuss the game. SSN's Cooper used most of his opening 5 minute allocation asking more silly questions.

He asked about Mario scoring for Milan, and RM answered he was worried because you hadn't talked about Mario.
He asked about will RM still be here next season, and RM was very cool answering "Why not".
He asked about lots of rumours about you, and RM answered it was nonsense.
He asked if RM had missed the Toure brothers and was he glad to see them back, and RM answered "Yes of course".

Roberto is very patient taking these silly questions, and Cooper doesn't seem to get the message even when others in the room groan. It's difficult to imagine SAF taking this sort of nonsense from SSN or anyone else, so why do City allow this to happen? I understand that part of the Sky TV deal includes their first five minutes monopoly, but why can't any club say to Sky directly "next time please send along someone better". Wouldn't it be great if papers / media employed real sports journos (instead of these gossip columnists)?

As fans we want to hear how we approach this game; Southampton were a surprise package earlier this season playing entertaining football, moving up the table into the safety zone, before they shabbily fired Nigel Adkins, and now they are in desperate straits back in the relegation zone.
Lets hope tomorrow will be the start of our strong campaign to reduce the points deficit at the top
.

First post on here, saints fan and thought i would have a butchers to see what you lot were thinking before the game.

I agree with most that you have all said and i think you will do us 2 or 3-1. Ramirez being out wont be as much of a blow as if our full-backs are. Shaw and Clyne have been top class for us and the main concern is a lack of cover, if Fox plays then you guys will have a field day down our left side/your right.

One thing that did annoy me is the above comment. Clearly you do not know anything about the premiership below the top 4. If you did then for starters you will see that we are not in the relegation zone. I do agree that we "shabbily" sacked Adkins, but in the 3 games that the new gaffer has been in, we have not been in "desperate straits". We drew 0-0 with Everton and created enough chances to win, we lost 2-1 at old trafford and again did enough to get a point and then then dropped 2 points at wigan by letting in a late goal. But 2 defeats in the last 10 is not too bad for a newly promoted team.

Anyway, still think you will do us as there is more riding on this 1 off game for you then there is for us. Hopefully we will give you a decent game though like up at your place on the first day.

All the best and safe trip to the lads coming down.

Excuse the ignorant trev86 , some us remember when every point down near the foot of the table was gold and most of us remember how going to the Dell was a blueprint for a thumping for us and it wasn't that long ago.

One thing your side has is players who can move the ball forward with pace and enable forwards to get into scoring positions.

Today's game will be no different and most of know we will have to be at our clinical best and have the defensive skills back on track that were not present at times against Liverpool to come away with a win.

No game is easy and a game at St Mary's is no pushover by any means.

You were still both times against Manure not to come away with something especially at home and we all know with 20 minutes or less on the clock you looked like getting all three points at COMS which hasn't been done in the premiership since Everton back in 2010.

While we were well below our best in that game and lost Kun after 11 minutes you showed enough to indicate to me that reproduce that kind of performance often enough in the remaining 37 games and you will finish above the bottom three.

For what it is worth I firmly believe you will not be relegated this year and have the starting eleven that if all the best are available and on song which is always the 64 dollar question you can compete favourable with the likes of Stoke , Swansea , Norwich and some more seasoned premiership outfits.

As for today it depends on whether we turn up and want it badly enough , its ain't going to be too pretty but there will be chances at both ends.

If our better players play to their best we shouldn't have too many problems but if they don't or more to the point you don't allow them to then we are in for a hard road for 96 minutes.

You are right that it is probably more critical for us then you in terms of relative goals and fwiw you probably won't be in the bottom three even if you lose tonight and will live to fight another day.

As far as reward for effort all the sides in the bottom half will say they deserve better than their points total but from a neutral , Southampton are very stiff to be on the tally they are on as they have gained the points that the performances deserve but not got a number of points that other performances deserved.

Under your old guard I think you would have been fine and things were looking up despite a shaky start.

The new manager looks ok and will need time to settle in and the language barrier doesn't help of course but no doubt your current hierarchy are aiming for more and Adkins wasn't fashionable enough to go to the next level I guess.

I don't think it will come back to bite you and sometimes you need to make a move on a new manager when the opportunity presents itself and I have no idea how long you were courting him but it seems Adkins fate was sealed even before the start of the season although it would have been hard to let him go if you were in the top ten for example come Christmas time but we did the same to Mark Hughes , Newcastle to Hughton and the list goes on.
