Speed awareness course

That'll be on peel way dual carriage way, should be at least 40 - 50 limit but its a 30, speed cam caught me doing 33 ffs still had to do the course
Exact same experience for me.. it looks like a 40 at least and the warning signs to say it’s a 30 are not very clear. I actually got done doing 40 there as I was convinced it was 40 so kept to what I thought was the legal limit. Think mine was 3 points and £60 fine at the time

30mph is the usual default speed limit and set by the spacing of Street lights, warnings not normally required. 33mph in a 30mph limit would not attract a penalty

Very very unfortunate to be prosecuted for 33
There is almost always a tolerance of 10% + 1 or 2
What I did learn on my speed awareness course is that 30 and national speed limits do not have to be signposted once the zone is entered, whereas a 40 or 50 zone will be and you will drive past one of the signs every 30 seconds or so

Remember at the end when you get shown that video and they ask you to note how many 'danger points' you can see to tell them you stopped counting when you hit a 100.

The one I did a few years ago when they went round the room it was 5, 15, 6 etc...I'd have had them all on a fucking re-test.

If that’s the rules then fair enough.. Think I ll sue my driving instructor from 30 years ago as he definitely didn’t tell me that:)

However how would a motorist know what the legal distance of street lights are when driving down a road before knowing what my speed to do without any signs?

He’s right it’s in the Highway Code if the spacing between the lampposts is less than a certain distance it’s 30mph.
This would be cited if you were caught doing much more and tried to defend yourself in court.
National speed limit is 60 mph on all other roads though.
