Speedway

Ha,
used to love standing on the corners so you’d get battered by the shale as Ivan Mauger came roaring into the first bend .
No brakes
Mental .
Tommy Roper - who always seemed to conk out as he was leading on the final lap! Soren Sjosten was my Aces hero.

My uncle raced in his prime.

Even in his 60's he went to Germany to compete in their seniors grass speedway events.

He tried to get me into riding and failed miserably trying to train me to control the skids.

I still remember him bollocking me for coming off the bike.

:)

Used to go to Hyde Road as a young child on a Saturday night… loved it. Was addicted to the smell of speedway bike fuel. Used to go in the pleasure gardens afterwards. Great days… some of my best childhood memories, the Bobs and the water shoot.
