Do you realise what you're sitting on here?

You could turn the entire world of on it's head with that revelation, mate. It would be the biggest news to hit the world since the dinosoars died off. All of science and all of religion would be rendered largely redundant.

It would be the most important discovery of all time. Bigger than the wheel, more important than fire. In fact it would dwarf both of these.

You and your medium friends could become millionaires overnight. These "mediums" would become the biggest stars the world has ever seen. Bigger than Jesus. Bigger than The Beatles. Richer than God. This could bring about world peace if harnessed properly.

All you would need to do it go the one of the tabloids with the details of one of these genuine mediums and all the above would happen.

Have you never thought about that?
have you ever thought that these "chosen" people look on it as a gift and not a cash cow?
have you ever thought that these people don`t want to cash in on their gift, that these people chosen with this ability don`t go running to the tabloids or sky news, that these people are normal working class folk with this unbelievable knack of giving loving, healing messages to strangers who seek a small crumb of comfort in the form of a message from a loved one?
i think you have gone a bit deep with your statement DD,this kind of stuff has been going on for years and years mate..
just let the believers believe and the non-believers not believe!!

Two points here.

1. So you've never seen a dodgy medium but fully agree that they exist? Don't you think that that is a little coincidental? By the laws of probability you should have met at least one.

2. You are suggesting that the mediums are not at fault for a bad reading, and that you must believe in it for it to work. This is exactly what the power of suggestion is. Mediums claim the ability to communicate as a fact. Gravity doesn't stop working just because you don't believe in it.

For the record, the spiritualists I tested have been wide ranging and not "some gypo on Blackpool Pier". From private sessions recommended by others to attending St Francis Spiritualist Church, at no point have I ever seen anything that doesn't fall into the classification of cold reading.

If anybody has a particularly favourite and believable medium who they are convinced can talk to dead people, then I'd be interested in their contact details. More to the point, if anyone does want an explanation and are willing to upload a recording of their session, I'd happily point out the tricks used.
go down to heaton park working mens club on a wednesday night,730-9pm and let me know what happens.
oh by the the way, everybody will probably know eachother, you won`t know a soul and the joke will be on you...

So why don't they cash in and donate it all to charity?

Mainly because this would mean they would have to be tested scientifically.

Every "spiritualist"/"medium" or whatever they want to call themselves in in it for profit, pure and simple. Some like the ego boost, but most like the cold hard cash. They learn how to cold read and then go about conning vulnerable people.

I don't want to appear rude, mate, but it angers me, it really does. You're being taken for a mug by manipulative people.

do they fuck, why has science got to be the stamp of authority to be a spiritualist?
maybe some cash in and maybe some donate,if that`s your burning question get down to a service, wait until it ends and pull the medium to one side and ask them directly..

This sounds like a threat of gang rape. They're dodgy down in Heaton Park area.

Seriously though, are the tickets open sale and are recordings allowed?

Just pop your phone on record if it has the ability to do so.

you pay on the door and i`ve never known anybody to record a service,if you explain to them that you don`t believe in it and you want a recording as proof of tomfoolery then i`m sure you will get a straight answer..
in my eyes people don`t record the service as the majority of the people attending believe in what they are witnessing!!
