So

We've bid 37 mill for villa knowing that Barca will come over the top of us to get their man and Villa wants to stay in Spain.?

This will then force Barca to ditch Eto'o and we'll snap him up?

Surely to land Eto'o we'd give Barca a clear run at Villa to speed up the process?

Quite the opposite monkey, it seems as those Valencia want to speed the whole process up by giving Barca a deadline and if they don't meet that date then they will accept a bid for Villa from us. It stops Barca dragging their feet and it's also a very impressive business line from City, pushing Barca.

Either way we are the winner, Eto'o or Villa?

Well that's what I thought Mr Z message said.

If this is true we along with Eto'o have just screwed Barca as according to the rumor mill Eto'os playing silly bugger on the wage front and Barca need to sell Eto'o to get Villa

Eto'o making him self unsellable and Barca don't get the fee as a result don't up the offer for Villa

in the mean time we come in and BTOOTW with a bid for Villa that we know they can't match as we're not buying Eto'o

this is all conjecture and is probably miles off but that what my first thoughs are

I would have thought that the powers that be will have sounded out both players and been told to make bids imho.

We are not run by idiots anymore.

Villa wont come to England and we wont meet Eto'o's ridiculous wage demands. So why all the fuss? I don't know whether to believe them that we are after one or the other, but even if we are, neither deal would happen. So chill out everyone!

Aha so we are pushing them into a corner.

"Barca need to sell Eto'o to get Villa" says who?

So is City's primary target Villa and it never was Eto'o?

Or are we just hedging we'll get one of the two and we aren't arsed which one it is.?

Valencia could accept our offer then Villa could knock us back.

As someone above mentioned above we could end with neither but at least we stood our ground.

now go to page 19 of this thread my friend and i'll accept the inevitable.

Still not gonna crawl back through all this, i got to bed for 8 hours and this is what happens. Fair play though, although that wasnt really new knowledge, i read a few weeks ago about it somewhere on here.

I have to say so did I. This is old hat. Pretty damn sure one of our regulars mentioned this a while back. And no it wasn't Zin.
