Sporting CP (A) | CL | Post Match Thread

Bleak? Pull yourself together.

When we get KDB, Grealish, Walker, Dias and Stones back we'll be more solid.

We've been here nearly every year. Around this time we have bad results and people on here lose their head. Then we lift trophies at the end of the season.
I agree with this and yet totally think it's completely false!!

Does Pep’s game only really work with the most elite players, on the top of their game?

I’d imagine I’m not allowed to say this on here, but I’m bored of knowing that we will concede goals on the break, that we don’t know how to defend apart from by keeping the ball - we then get desperate and make poor decisions because we aren’t set up to be defensively solid.
And on the attack… especially this season, we haven’t got a clue. We insist on having as much slow, sideways possession as possible, but we’d rather keep the ball than seize the moment when we’re breaking at speed (initially).

Yeah pal these are the teams that he played against because he didn't get a chance against anyone else, and I don't know if you''ve been paying attention but every single fucking game at the moment is a tough one and almost no one was better him in those games.

Phillips never managed to look even half as good as Nunes has been lately so yeah your comparaison is lazy and stupid.
Philips was never fit, Nunes was nowhere near a starting 11 when we are on it.

As soon as our midfield option improve he's back on the bench. He and everyelse knows it.

The weekend could be the crux point of the season. Pull something out here and it could put and end to this shite we're currently seeing. Lose and the whole thing gets way way harder.
We are usually 8 points adrift of the leaders at this stage of the season. Just saying.
If we get beat at Brighton it might get rid of the wet wipes that post on here whenever operation win every game 10 nil goes tits up.

We know that.
But his goals come in clumps.

Can you honestly say he can't do better in games we've been shite.
He certainly can, tonight being the perfect example of that.
He had the space, he had the chances and didn’t take advantage.
There was a few good saves though.
What I was replying too was someone saying he doesn’t deserve his place in the team.
The rest of the team needs to step up also, not just him.
There will be games where he’s simply man marked out of the game.
Packed penalty areas where there’s 10 players and a parked bus, with no room for him to work and find space.
He could drop much deeper but I’m pretty certain Pep wouldn’t allow that.
See Henry’s comments about him playing for Pep at Barca, Henry moved out of position, scored a goal and was playing well and Pep subbed him at halftime because Pep said ‘stick to the system’
As I’ve previously stated without his goals we’d be more fucked than we are now.
The midfield and wingers aren’t creating nowhere near enough and are certainly not scoring enough goals.
The whole team needs to do better, him included.
