With all the circumstances, 7 points of 9 in the CL, 2 points behind Liverpool in the league, that`s all but not terrible. Would also be happy with a point tonight vs. a strong Sporting.

a significant drift in City's odds this morning at Betfair.
Sporting odds on 365 have come down from 16/5 to 11/4, only a 10% difference, nothing to read into it really apart from punters looking for a bit of value with our team looking a little vulnerable.

A better guide is the exchange. Bookies typically follow those prices and take their profit by adjusting the odds in relation to that.

Weight of money (albeit only 134k on this market at the moment) gives a better indication of probability (see wisdom of crowds) so betfair has City's win probability going from 60% to 50%.

Typically with the volume exchanged its not just opinion but more likely team news related which you could argue feeds in to opinion.

It would be nice if our unbeaten run continued.

We'll need time to learn how to achieve a good balance between defence and attack without Rodri. He was the system rather than just a system player. Pep will have to find new solutions, and some young players have to step up. Gvardiol is already doing it. Savinho, Doku, McAtee and Bobb have to step up as well. Would be great if Nunes surpassed our expectations too. Foden and Haaland are only 24, they can get better, a scary prospect for our rivals.

I worked in the betting industry for 30 years Bert, I'm well aware of exchanges! :-).

Pre match presser, Pep on Eddie/Ortega starting - 7:40...

Can't make up who is meant by 'he' and if Pep and the journo mean the same 'he'.
Any guesses?

Are you talking about this:

“They have changed players but have same manager and same mentality. Winning the league for first time in 20 years and then doing it again last season shows what a good job he has done.”

If so, he's talking about the manager.

Mad that some people actually think we might lose this
How is that mad? Obviously people can have a different opinion, but it’s not “mad”, surely? Not with the way we’re playing and how knackered/in pain many of our players are. And also considering how good Sporting are, with 10 wins out of 10 in the league, scoring 35 and conceding just 3. Also on the same points as us in the CL. Definitely not a mad opinion.

Not going to be easy. Injuries, low confidence & a lack of a bench is going to make this our hardest game for a while.

I don’t expect a great performance sadly as we can’t turn it on & off & I think performance wise we have been poor regardless of results most of the season.

Walk away tonight with no injuries & a point I would take it now.

I hope we start with the same team. Maybe McAtee instead of Gundo that’s it. Would rather see Doku and Savinho coming later into this game to gain confidence.

Nunes has been our best player over the last 3 games, imho. Bit of a transformation, probably helped by having minutes on the pitch. Let's hope he keeps it up and can be just as good if in midfield rather than out wide.
