Spurs’ new stadium

This is Spurs and with the added bonus of having Engerlands poster boy will be allowed to do what they want without sanction. They are gerrymandering the fixture lists.

Yep. My dislike of Spurs began when their points deduction and expulsion from the FA Cup for financial irregularities were rescinded back in the early 90s.

Funnily enough provincial Swindon's appeal against relegation (!) for financial irregularities at about the same time was rejected...

He’s a spuds fan mate. Chatting shit also as usual because there’s no way it’ll be ready in 2 months!

Why do you believe that?

Sure, cosmetically, there is still quite a bit to do. But functionally, the stadium would have been usable by mid September but for the issue with critical safety systems identified by the first test event. The interior bowl is nigh on complete. Likewise the roof. I've seen comments to the effect that the seats aren't all in and the pitch hasn't even been laid yet. Well, both those jobs can be done in a matter of days. And there are still 4.5 weeks until the Liverpool game. If you've ever followed a construction project closely, you'll know that, more often than not, the building looks far from ready until the final few days. Check out pictures of Atletico's Wanda Metropolitano stadium at the same stage of construction last year. You'd have said exactly the same about that.....that there's no way it would be ready for a mid September opening. But it was. So would new WHL have been but for the aforementioned systems failure.

Must be a public sector contract. The private sector would never make a fuck up of such proportions, surely?

A huge, complex construction project on a tight schedule overrunning by a couple of months is most definitely not a fuck up of major proportions.

The one thing that's being overlooked here is that spuds with the help of the premier league, have broken the rules of the premier league from the start! They are now proposing a third home ground in a season when the rules say your only allowed one , but it's ok cos spuds have bunged cash at Wembley and the premier league so that negates the rules set out and agreed by all clubs . Also the Wembley extension was agreed in private between spuds and Wembley and the premier league . There is only one way out of this spuds need to forfeit the game/games and the points, they knew the rules when they moved out of WHL but because money talks the fundamental rules that govern all clubs are conveniently forgotten .

Nope. There is no hard and fast rule which says that a club cannot play home games at more than one stadium during a single season. The rule, such as it is, is designed only to prevent clubs from cherry picking games to play in a bigger stadium. When there is a legitimate reason, and if the other clubs agree (as they did in this instance), a club can use more than one home stadium during a season.

Well it is if it affects fixtures, supporters and the competition.

If.

Hasn't happened yet.
Without looking in the Premier League handbook, a basic precondition for entry must be that you have the facilities in place for entry into the competition. If they are ready for the scheduled games fine, well done, we'll all marvel at what I am sure will be a beautiful stadium. If not, prepare to get hammered.

I think playing some of your league games at Wembley and others at WHL puts the integrity of the competition in some doubt. Different situation for different teams.

I think the Premier League have to give very serious consideration about allowing you to compete in the league. How else do they ensure a level playing field? You can't play games against opponents at different grounds in my opinion. I don't care what the rules say. Everyone should compete on a level playing field and if you are changing your venue it destroys that. The Premier League must ensure that the title winners and relegated clubs, Champions League qualifiers have competed on an equal footing.

JimB is a good poster mate and obviously very knowledgeable about the goings-on at Spurs. Like any fan, he'll defend his club if he sees fit and there's nothing wrong with that.

However, I do think it was always going to be a very optimistic ask to get the stadium ready in time and I can't help but think that Levy and Spurs saw this coming a while ago. For me, when they negotiated to play all their home games at Wembley last season they'd have been better off extending that agreement to this season too.

It's a proper pisser for any of our fans who have already booked travel/accomodation for the game in October and it gets shifted. If it stays on the Sunday and is played somewhere in London then it's not such an issue but if they change the date or move it our place then all fans who have forked out for non-refundable travel/accomodation costs should be reimbursed.
