Spurs’ new stadium

Apparently Pochetino said in his press conference that the NFL game is on the Saturday and he has not ruled out playing at Wembley on the Sunday even though the pitch will be in a poor condition. Hmmmmmm

Talk about being spectacularly naive.

I take it that's aimed at City as well, considering they won't want to see our fans shafted.

Anyway, instead of carrying this on on this thread I suggest you and that other fucking whopper take it to PM. Either that or meet me for a pint on Sunday and we can discuss it then. I'm sure the likes of @allan harper - who is in danger of being £210 out of pocket - will be most interested to hear what you have to say

I don’t know where he apparently said that as the NFL match is on Sunday

The NFL match is on the Sunday (28th) so that would make it a Monday night game (29th) with the fourth round of the Carabao Cup to be played that midweek coupled with a Saturday 3 o'clock kick off for us that weekend.

So, assuming we go through in the third round, he's talking out of his arse in order to try and save Spurs'.

Going to be interesting when the solution to this fiasco is announced, unless the game goes ahead as planned which some posters are saying is unlikely. My concern is the authorities will do what's is best for everyone bar City and our supporters. Our involvement in all this will become a minor consideration, and for that reason Spurs should be the ones suffering the detriment and not City.

This is where he talks about it: https://www.theguardian.com/footbal...ay-play-manchester-city-wembley-day-after-nfl

And you're right that it would mean the Monday night for the league game. That would still wreck the plans of fans who've booked travel and accommodation based on a Sunday game, and would also require City to play Spurs on a surface that he admits will be sub-standard.

As for the scheduling, it depends on the day when we play our CL group game the following midweek. If it's Wednesday, 7 November, we could play Spurs on the Monday, switch our home game against Southampton to Sunday, 4 November and play the League Cup tie on Thursday, 1 November - 3 days before and 3 days after the nearest league games. If the CL game is on the Tuesday, we won't switch the Southampton match and would have to play a LC tie either 48 hours before or 48 hours after a PL game.

IMO, City should be lobbying strongly for the game to take place as a Spurs home game on 28 October, which avoids us being dicked about with fixtures through no fault of our own. And if Spurs (whether or not they're at fault) can't provide their home ground or their contingency option on that weekend, they should be made to find another venue.

I don't think that will happen. It's what should happen, though, IMO.

Its failure to fulfill a fixture,Spurs may have friends at Lancaster Gate but in truth they should be docked points and fined, because at the moment it looks like its everybody who has to play Spurs problem and not theirs ,they get a new stadium at the end of it all, other teams just a load of bs hassle and nothing else

The game shouldn’t be postponed or reversed and city should insist the game should be played between the 26th and the 29th October.

Pep on the idea of City reversing fixtures with Tottenham and playing away late in the season: "Our last five games in the Premier League, four [would be] away. Maybe we'll be playing for the Premier League, so..."

He's a fecking thick bastard then.
According to NFL UK the NFL game is scheduled as Sun Oct 28 at 1:30pm (Philadelphia Eagles Jacksonville Jaguars) @Wembley. The NFL has the stadium for 3 weeks and it will take 2 days to shift all their junk afterwards and 2 weeks to fix the pitch afterwards.
City would probably be OK with flipping the fixtures if another game was flipped to prevent 3 away games on the bounce (probably 4 with the Utd game highly likely to be moved) and compensation for train tickets and hotels already booked was avaiable but the Premier League said this was a non starter as they don't want Spurs to have 4 home games on the bounce.

Why can't we play Saturday then?
Because it takes 2 days to sort out Wembley and the NFL have leased the stadium for 3 and a bit weeks. So even Friday is out.
I wouldn't want to play on that pitch for 2 weeks after the NFL has been on it. It would kill our passing game.

Anyway, as things stand Spurs are spending a fortune trying to get the game played. 600 sparks @£400 a day to fix 10,000 circuits should sort it by the end of September with 1.25 sparks per circuit per day.

The tampa bay trafford rag sock devils would like a kick about on that surface then?

The City v Palace game can't be flipped as that would give us 3 away games at Christmas.and the City v Burnley game can't be flipped either as the game has already been aranged. So flipping is a non starter.

No its just aimed at you. Its got nothing to do with City, which is pretty much the response I got from them when trying to get the cost of my flights to Moscow back a few years ago.

I'll happily come for a drink with you when you get me back my money, but until then I can't think of anything I'd rather do less than have a conversation with you.

Happy for this thread to go back to actual updates on the game, but I will continue to correct you if you continue to misinform people that they will get their money back.

I've not misinformed anybody that they'll get their money back - I've just said that if the fixture date changes then morally it would only be fair for City fans to have their travel costs refunded and from what Blue Anorak says, it seems the club agree.

As for the Moscow debacle, well that one was more on UEFA than anybody else and they should've reimbursed the flight costs for every fan out of the money they fined CSKA Moscow. The fact that they didn't is the sole reason why I boo the CL anthem and will continue to do so
