No idea what you are talking about. "Best starting 11 in the Premier League." (Copyright Paul Merson, 2017)

You're joking, but I've lost count of how many times I've heard people (people with more credibility than Merson) say "Oh it's so hard for them to improve the team"

Pochettino is saying pretty much exactly that today.

Is it? Is it really hard to improve a team who have never won a trophy and finished 23 points behind us last season? Odd, because we broke practically every record in the book and we still found ways to improve with a ~25m net spend.

It's a difficult market. Spurs wouldnt mind a swap deal Toby for Martial but United value Toby at 55m and Martial around 70m. One plays sparingly and the other has been consistently the best top 5 defenders in the world.

Also the likes of United paying triple in wages Spurs do. Is that United paying too much or Spurs paying too little? As it is, Spurs pay more than 14 other clubs in the league

Average players like Drinkwater will set you back 40m. That's not gonna help us at all!

Our biggest mistake, or maybe I'm wrong, was not signing Ryan Sennesson last season

It will look fantastic when it’s finally complete.
Every new stadium pushes forward design perametres and it is great to see clubs embrace it when it is planned correctly.

Imagine that end with safe standing.

Yeah, well one of them is 29, coming off an injury, and running down his contract. The other is a 22 year old attacker who still has loads of potential. As for wages, it's both... if Spurs just paid their players what they're worth they wouldn't have to sell one of the aforementioned top 5 defenders in the world.

It's not a difficult market, levy is a tight **** always has been, 2 years ago you were in a position to kick on and posibly win the league, but that means investment not relying on Kane erikson etc, you had a good spine and still do, but everyone else has built on their squads over those 2 years, you haven't and the sradium is no excuse with the champ league and tv deal money that came in.

There is something hugely enjoyable about being different and not playing by the rules. I am absolutely loving how incensed TalkSport and the rest of the media are by this. Will it make any difference? Not one bit. Spurs will finish between 2 - 6, get out of the group stages of CL, have a little cup run and play some pretty football in a shiny new stadium.

I'll take that.

So they'll finish between 2 - 4, then ? ;-)

Not very daring though, is it?

They may try and paint this in a good light but really their lack of ambition will not sit well with the fans. They've crippled themselves with a new shiny stadium that they will be paying off for years to come and they keep gambling on their current squad to just get them top 4. All it takes is a Mendy like injury to Kane or Eriksen and they are beyond screwed. No top 4, no champs league money, disgruntled fans and disillusioned players who will want to fuck off to win something.
