Spurs (A) | PL | Post-Match Thread

yep

the behind the scene are rotten, the players have down tools, the stink is not clearing and Cancelo leaving says its time up for pep
No. The problem today was tactically and the selection. They players fought for every ball, i saw no problem with attitude. The problem was when we had the ball. Everytime we tried to build up from the back there was a huge gap between midfield and attack, and we struggled to control the midfield. Adding to that, the few times we managed to progress on to the final third our execution and decision making was horrendous: holding on to the ball for too long, playing the pass too early, too late, poor first touch etc. No rhythm and no chemistry in our attacking play.

Missed opertunaty to reduce the gap,as the amount of games are reducing it's looking like the only way we're going to win it is by beating arsenal in the two games, possible but unlikely

The matchday thread and this is akin to a boxers corner throwing the fucking towel in after 10 seconds and one punch!

Get a fucking grip ffs.

No divine right to win every game or every PL. This manager and squad has broken records, left, right and centre and will do so again over the next few years as he rebuilds.

Meanwhile we are 2nd in the fucking PL and still in the FA cup and CL.
10 seconds?!! We’re well into the second half of the fight, miles behind on points and clearly don’t fancy it

You should know better mate.

You tell us the plans in place for the summer knowing full well it will be Pep implementing them for the next few years.

Our record breaking success is also on him and this season is far from over.
Today was an acid test and we never came close to passing it mate.

More of concern are the players all looking at each other and shaking their heads.

They don't seem to enjoy their instructions.

As I said to a mate of mine who was celebrating Arsenal's loss yesterday, their defeat would only mean something if we took advantage, & we failed miserably to do so.

I actually thought we were playing well until Rodri's suicide pass to Lewis. Today was always gonna be about Kane breaking records & so it proved.

Spurs did the same to us as ManUre did. They packed their defence & central midfield leaving us zero space, but their wingbacks also nullified our width, so we couldn't get around or behind them. On the few occasions we managed it, their penalty area was packed. We were just out-thought tactically.

At all times Haaland was surrounded by 3-4 players & because midfield space was at a premium, it left him isolated. We were relying on KDB playing long through balls in the hope Haaland latched onto one, but it wasn't to be. Surely this can't be our only tactic to score?

There was a time where Merlin would have thrived in those tight spaces. He would pull the opposition all over the place & thread blind passes through to Sterling, Aguero, Sané, Mahrez or onto an overlapping KDB. This is the creative spark we're seriously short of since Bernardo's mind seems to be elsewhere.

Failing at Spurs comes as no surprise, as they just seem to have the hex over us. I've been trying to put my finger on what's up with us this season & it seems there's a mentality & commitment issue within the squad.

We don't have a vocal, natural leader in the mode of Kompany any longer. Dias is the closest we have, but when his minutes are being managed we seemingly have no one else to step up as we did with David Silva/Fernandinho.

Grealish really wanted it today, but he too was crowded out & seemed isolated at times meaning he was faced with 3 players, or the option of a backward/sideways pass with Spurs defending en masse & ready to counter at speed.

Guardiola has his work cut out. After Cancelo's shock departure I thought today's performance would tell us a lot about the 2023 Manchester City. It seems our current issues run deep.

We've a HUGE summer ahead of us which again will tell us a great deal about where this current iteration of our squad is headed... It seems the days of KDB & Bernardo being able to raise their levels & pull us up by the bootstraps, & inspiring everyone else around them is over.

We need change & energy in our engine room. We need a dedicated LB & pace & trickery on the wings. We also need to make a quick decision with Philips. We needed to raise the midfield temperature & pace today & were unable to do so until the final 7 minutes when Spurs went down to 10.

I trust that the club know exactly what's wrong & what the solution is. This summer is gonna be fuckin massive!

He gave the kind of effort you would expect by a player benched by his manager to make a point.

i am not saying it is right.

there are a number of players playing badly and not putting in leg work.

Bernado has been i gone in the Head from the Club for weeks.

Even Rodri looks half arsed.

We can all see something is not right.

Our best defenders benched, star performers not putting a shift in.
sorry but Rodri never looks half arsed!

For those old enough… never forget. Some right dick heads on here. You’ve no idea what supporting a football club is meant to be about. We’re going to go through a massive change in the next 12 months. I hope you Lot have fucked off when we’re brilliant again - with Pep. Spoilt brats
I won’t forget but I won’t ignore what’s happening now. This team is coming to an end. We need to move 3/4 on and hope the recruitment is spot on. Fans get angry or upset it’s what we do. Some of those players regardless of how they have played in the past are clearly not performing. Pep is not helping with the ponderous slow ball we now deliver.

We all need to take a breather and chill. We can’t win the league every season and we will have dips. I’m trying to stay positive but watching us at the min is a bag of emotions and some of those spill out.

Unless the boss rips up his playbook and tries something different we are not good enough to win the league. Maybe a trophy but you need consistency to win the title and we don’t have it. Also create next to nothing and it adds up to a crap season.

It’s a good job Arsenal lost. Never expected anything from today - apart from another abject, control-based, blunt yet somehow open to the counter away performance.

No real loss since the weekends games started but not making Arsenal have a doubt of themselves is a big chance missed.

so sad - we are a shadow of our former selves - like watching Ali v Holmes for those old enough to remember - big changes needed I’m afraid - just sense there are big problems behind the scenes at the moment - like I said so sad

Feck it, onwards. Other than the rags winning, nothing has changed. I would’ve taken a draw at the start of the game. Spurs did their homework, closed the space for Haaland and Alvarez in particular and were ready to pounce on Rodri.

Then same old same old, their shithouse tactics encouraged by the ref. Find it weird that ake didnt play left back and either Laporte or Dias as centre back, but Pep tried something different, didn’t work, move on.

Today shows why spurs will win fuck all for a long time, they’re a posh Dave Bassett team and when they try to go toe to toe they can’t handle it - hence the results against arsenal.

I have zero interest in what he as done at Chelsea ( I can’t be assed getting into he has been injured ) am just saying he scored on average 15 goals a season and was quick so we could actually stretch a game .
Please not Sterling. I couldn’t stand watching him fall over in front of an open goal or missing sitters left right and centre.
It’s a huge no for me. Chelsea are just Raheems meal ticket. We don’t look back.

The thing I am worried about is that we used to rely on how awesome we were to beat these shite cheating/dirty b'stard teams and awful refs, right now we don't have that to rely on, we're not playing all that well and the refs are worse than ever. There are a few problems for Pep to sort out, not 100% convinced we have enough 'game changers' to do it right now. We're still 2nd and we have some 'easier' games coming up to get going again so hopefully we can keep the challenge on arse.

Fuck me, peps lost the players, the players don’t care, how dare we get beat by spurs away, massive investment req, get a grip you pussies it’s what happens in football, it could be worse we could be like Liverpool
They won the champs league when we took the piss

Today was an acid test and we never came close to passing it mate.

More of concern are the players all looking at each other and shaking their heads.

They don't seem to enjoy their instructions.

And many will be gone and replaced in the summer as well you know.

If we don’t win the league this season so be it, I’m over it already.

Honestly the fucking entitlement on here is off the scale.
