Spurs (A) | PL | Post Match Thread

Press have built this narrative up out of nothing that pep be gone in the summer! Us fans shouldn’t believe that believe he will be here to see out his contract minimum

If Pep does leave after the season, I'd be shocked if it's anyone but Maresca.
As we are someway off the rebuild being complete we do not need a volatile Italian at the helm. We need a calm, strong character who also knows the Club. If we cannot get LE and his CL record is not good so far this year we must go for Vincent

If they play with the intensity they did v Newcastle they will absolutely muller us mate. We are not equipped to handle intensity. We’ve seen it about 10x now this season.
Agreed , but a week is a long time in football. Something is not right in the camp. Haaland's form has dropped off a cliff. Phil's as well. Pep thinks everything is OK after that 2nd half performance when clealy it is not. Something has got to give.

Plus , now I hear he's been at a political rally in Barcelona only yesterday 31st Jan with letting Pep lijnders take the training session and pre presser. Im OK with him speaking at a rally but that's not normal behaviour before a PL game. He's lowered his own standards and the club's . I'm sorry but it unacceptable before a professional football match. Is he trying to get the sack ? Sure looks like it. What must the players feel about his absence ? Pep Lijnders did a smashing job preparing the players for this game today.

Haaland is not the problem ? its Pep letting his once unbreakable guard slip down

Having a couple of days off right bang right in the middle of a big game in the title races ? Family matters ok i could understand it, but being at a rally, a political rally ? That's not right
I don't agree with you, I've read your your posts on the subject and you're entitled to think that way but his speech and today's performance aren't linked in any way whatsoever.

I’d have Tuchel when pep leave if he leaves in 18 months! Someone who will make us more Assured at the back..

The performance in the second half had really made me wonder if these players even want to try? Some of them wander around and just don’t give it their all. I know some people like to believe that players always give their all but sorry, they really don’t and you can tell.

And once again, we’re talking about referees again. One time we can let it go, twice you have to ask questions But for the umpteenth time they’ve fucked us over royally. How has Haaland not got a penalty at the end on that corner and how was solankes first goal given? It becomes quite apparent that something or someone is clearly making these decisions because it’s weekly now.

Haaland at corners. This drove me nuts, he stands on the goal line and gets wrestled to the ground, he never gets a pen, ever, can you recall one he has been awarded from a corner in his 3 plus years at City.? If so remind me cos I have forgotten. Ok, so we know it doesn’t work, repeat it doesn’t work. Ok, so how about he walks to the edge of the box and makes a run ? Any foul on a moving player becomes more obvious, edit Real Madrid away he got a pen when he did exactly that. So why the fuck is he bollocking about on the goal line every fucking corner? It’s fucking mental.
Dippers corner, VVD always gets on the end of them, Arsenal its often Gabriel. We just are clueless through a lack of competent coaching on set pieces but he is wasted on the goal line

Watching that shitshow second half was so stressful and such a kick in the bollocks… I’ve now got a banging headache

Need more alcohol

2 or 3 points.

Does it really matter. Just shows what a shit stain of a season we're having.
Still rather be where we are than the rags..
Still in all 4 competitions isn't really a shit stain of a season..but I agree we aren't playing great.
Hopefully we will win something..or even get an occasional VAR decision in our favour

I can’t watch Solanke, albeit he’s a good player, score back heels at one end and out 9 year 500k a week striker stand there like piffy at the other
That might be a reductive position but that’s what I’ve been reduced to.

If he’s starved of service then how do the strikers at West Ham, Brighton, Spurs etc get on? They make things happen - even that cart horse at United has started scoring. Hope is not a strategy, doing is! Also, when the ball does go up to him, he doesn’t hold it up anyway
Shite!

Was there a VAR image of the off-side shout for their first goal?
Looked like it was in real time and in the one quick replay shown,
but i can't recall a VAR image with the lines being drawn or even one of those soppy cartoon things.
Perhaps i missed it.
It was weird, I assumed that's what they were checking as well as the foul

Many players have said that they think completely differently about football after listening to Pep.
“So I listened to Pep and came to realise that the second half didn’t matter at all.”
