Spurs (A) | PL | Post Match Thread

Again and again....

Yet the same people will make the same excuses...

These are not serious footballers - that was the worst performance of the season next to the derby

we dont deserve to win anything with the attitude and application the players are showing....

Donarumma - needs to be making quikcer decsions with his kicking.....he got Nunes into trouble in the second half with a delayed pass out ...great shot stopper but that is going to cost us a game at some point....it nearly did here

Left back - whether its NOR or RAN both are shocking defensively.....RAN again attitude wise is so poor....runs fast running forward, gives the ball away and doesnt get back......weak, weak mentality - you dont win anything serious with a player like him in the team (he is not the only one)

Rodri - not even close to the level needed...this was spoken about in the summer...he needs time but it remains to be seen if he can get back to the top level - at the moment he is nowhere near

Semenyo - a player to play in transition - not when the opposing team play loads behind the ball...gives the ball away way too easy, not involved in the game anywhere near enough...his goals are papering over some horrible performances..is he a born winner or just a nice guy?

Cherki - Im with Pep on this...become serious or you become a side show/circus act.....so many times in great positions and he is wasteful

Reijnders - please send him back to Italy - this gy aint a kid whether he is new to the league or not.....the worst performnce by any new signing ...he is nearly as anonymous as Kalvin Phillips!!!!

Haaland.....not at the races......he looks exhausted/injured or whatever but he needs to step up - we know he is good enough but something aint right

we have now got a load of players who are NOT winners.....they are weak mentally and physically...

Looking at the bench..nothing changes it either.

That was a spurs team missing 11 or 12 first team players.......and people will still make excuses!
Look I'm as angry as you - it's hard to see Gallagher and Simons run us raged (which they have done for other clubs when playing us) and also to have Solanki look the best forward on the pitch is not ideal.

I disagree however with a couple of your takes - firstly Cherki is the only breath of fresh air we have at the moment 19 G/A so far is evidence he is impacting games a lot. Once he had to go off with his injury we looked terrible. Secondly Donna once again saved us losing that game, it seems in every match now he pulls off 2 or 3 world class saves - we have another keeper in today and we would lose. I also thought his passing was much better - the issue was when he did go long Erling and Semenyo had terrible first touches - our hold up play was shocking.

I do agree with your comment about left back - today all three fullbacks who played had poor games - not happened that much but the club's reluctance to get a powerful fullback is very odd. I also agree with Tijjani who is looking so poor as a midfielder. His eye for a goal is great but he doesn't or cannot make a tackle to save his life. He was shocking when he came on and gave them so much space to attack us and get the crowd involved.

This was a very poor second half display no doubt against a team on its' knees and I don't understand why we constantly come out after the break with seemingly no idea how to control a game.

I have to hope we will be much better in midweek.

Were we much worse in the second half than the first….because even though we scored two goals we were so sloppy.

Saying that our energy levels drop off a cliff in the second halves…..are they really that unfit.

All hope of scoring again disappeared when Cherki went off.

Too many weak players….Ait Nouri looks like he’s been shot by a sniper whenever he loses the ball but he’s not the only one.

The most worrying thing about that performance is it will encourage Newcastle….Spurs only had 45 mins to recover a two goal deficit.

I couldnt disagree with the team that was picked….is it the way they are being asked to play ?

Absolutely atrocious. All been said already. Lost it in the first half. Neville said it right. It was like watching Soccer Aid. Why oh why didn’t we just go for the throat and put 4/5/6 past these and then relax. Not one bit of urgency in the whole team. Could have easily got beat there. That was a bad one.

O Reilly not good enough in the midfield. Somenja had a shocker apart from the goal, How Foden can’t get in this team is beyond me. Brings him on with 5?mins to go.
Just fuck off
Because Cruyff loved possession based football and that must come first over City winning matches.

Score the first goal, then stroll about like we are winning 5 nil.

Spurs in the first half were there for a hammering.

In football there's always gonna be chances for the opposition. Especially with this fragile City team.

Today is the day when the final nail in the coffin on our title chances was hammered in.

How the fuck we are second is beyond me. Our play is laboured, out dated and boring.
Could’ve been much worse if it wasn’t for the Donnaruma saves.

City draw against 12 men.... again.
Fuckin ref was a disgrace.
If Haaland was fouled before the corner is took, then tell the taker to wait while he sorts out all the shit in the penalty area like in every other game.
But no, unlucky Haaland you got rugby tackled before the corner was took, so tough titty is the new application of the law that apllies to you and only you Manchester City.
Bollocks
And we’ll see it on every corner now just put him to the floor before the ball is kicked and all will be ok absolutely fucking disgraceful!

They have given that first goal to solanke which is very fucking strange. Is he the first player in history to be awarded a goal in which he didn’t touch the fucking ball?

To lose the league like this is the hardest thing to take.

Yep we have injuries, but the lack of fight is NO excuse.

I can take a loss, but not the lack of desire to fight.

We are just not the City team we were.

From top to bottom we have taken our eye off the game, and now we have too pay the price.

It'll take years to fix and a lot of energy. However I'm not sure if Pep still has the energy for what could take years.

Its going to be a tough few years or longer.

What away too give up the league.

Foden has been terrible for weeks!

I’m staggered that 99% of our fans are not pointing the finger at that foul for the first goal. As blatant a foul as there is. It changed the whole game. When you continuously get every single decision going against you, it must drain you. It has a massive effect
Whilst decisions may go against any team you have to rise up, put more into your game, and play through them ..... we just aren't strong willed enough, or good enough ...... we should have stood up and firmly faced up to Tottenhams fight in that 2nd half instead of completely wilting, but they just walked straight through our weak midfield.

What is the issue with 2nd halves? Is it something simple or a whole range of things? Bernardo is brilliant but has he only got 45 mins in him. Definitely feels like he controls it but once the legs start going we get bossed in midfield?
