Spurs (A) Post Match Thread

Have I missed the discussion on Sterling's challenge on Alli? What's the consensus? I see Gallagher said he went in "studs up", did he? I've seen a couple of replays, it didn't appead that way to me.
Not much in it, really. No intent, no real aggression. Not remotely reckless or dangerous. Always liable to get a yellow, but nothing like a red card. Or at least not in any semi-sane footballing world, in which cards aren’t given on the basis of whether an opponent gets hurt.

One WTF moment on my feed yesterday.

At half time they went to Dermot Gallagher to review the Raz penalty incident. Of course Dermot was adamant it was a dive. He even said at one point "look you can here that sterling has recognized he cant get to the ball"

Shearer, who was on the panel stepped in "but he GOT the ball!" and that was the end of that segment. Just shows how the refs see us.

Could have gone either way. There was no intent so a yellow should be the right call but sometimes these are reffed on the outcome not the intent. Wasn't off his feet, wasn't a downward stamp, played the ball. But as I say, have seen these go both ways.

Shush there are Spurs fans about;) (although Sterling could of easily been sent off without VAR)

I quite agree. If Monsignor Dean of Tranmere could just wave away another blatant foul on Sergio with the gesture patented by that other Whistling Wanker, Crappenberg, then he could easily have whipped out a card for Raheem, knowing that he was, as a ref, omniscient, and that Raheem, compared to the saintly Alli, was on the pitch simply to maim the opposition.

Touched the ball first then followed through.

How did Lloris manage to escape a yellow 'cos he started the fracas by pushing Sterling. And it's bloody typical of the reffing in this league that a dozen and a half players start shoving and pushing and just two get booked. What was different between the 'behaviour' of the two booked and the rest?

That confused me at the time. Dean gave the goal kick, fracas ensues, fracas broken up, no yellow cards dished out, Var decision of no penalty and then his ceremonial march to middle to dish out yellows, wtf was it all about, VAR isn't suppose to adjudge on yellows and it certainly seemed dean was taking instructions over the super dupa gchq pigmol special 4096 bit encrypted mic system.
