Spurs (A) - Post-Match Thread

Yes he was fantastic but he is not the same player. Currently he is not good enough and should not be in the team. Can’t fault his effort but he does not influence games. One good season does not give him a pass.

It is looking like another bad buy unless he can turn around this 12 month slump.
Bernardo has had a below par 12 months by his own standards but the guy is absolutely mustard.

if you’re after poor recruitment look no further than bringing in Mahrez and giving Sane less game time. Trying to fix something that not only wasn’t broken, but was working perfectly well.

Which is why we don’t need the Messi bandwagon to compound the problem, as much as it’d be great to have him in the PL.
Maybe this is why Pep keeps statingbhe should stay-put, because he knows that he just wouldn’t fit in this late in his career.
Enlighten me

We are a team in transition we have lost merlin our super game controller who not only created chances but dictated the tempo of the game.We have also lost fernandiniho who for us has been one of the best defensive shielders the prem has seen .now also the lack of athletic cover in front of the back four is making our team way to easy to get at .Then add to that we are now missing vinnys leadership skills and aggression and we have become a team in transition.A team that looks good on the eye but is lacking some of the key main ingredients.
Many long term managers have been through this phase but only the best have been able to successfully replace the missing links.Dont lose faith people i have no doubt pep will get it right and we will back where we belong sooner rather than later.

I am not saying pep has to change his philosophy as we all know he won’t. He needs to tweak his tactics to deal with how teams are beating us. It is that simple but he is too stubborn and is adamant we can play through this bad period.

He blames injuries.
He blames not having enough substitutions.
He blames having to play too many games.

He blames everything but the simple fact that he is setting the team up to fail because he won’t tweak his system to counter this new approach teams are taking.

For the good of the club he needs to adapt.
The squad has regressed markedly in the past two seasons as well , not an excuse for the lack lustre performances against teams we should be beating easily but our midfield is very average now mid table standard and that means fewer opportunities and good ones in the box.

KDB is ineffective currently.

Kun is no longer a feared threat and needs replacing as does Ferny.

Significant recruitment needed over the next 2-3 windows to get us back to the level of even near it of 2-3 seasons ago.

1.Poor recruitment (mahrez,Bernie,rodders)
2.We need a 30 goal forward.
3.No David Silva nor Fernandinho replacements

Kev is not being utilised in his best position. He is being run ragged trying to make things happen and not as effective.

The press is gone.
The passing at pace is gone.
One touch is gone.
The patient game is gone without Dave.
The counter attack is causing huge problems without Fern.
The transition from back to front is gone.
Teams sit back and wait they don’t press us anymore so that tactic is useless now.

Pep has been talking rubbish for months. We have regressed at an alarming rate and the management need to take responsibility and figure out how to beat this new system teams are using so effectively against us.

Dias,Ake,torres and Foden, Walker are the only positives this year. The rest of the players look beat as soon as we don’t score the first goal.

We are stuck in a loop playing the same shit now each week. Someone needs to take charge. The players need to step up.

Honest discussions needed and Pep needs to change it is that simple.
Silva was gone anyway. Too many players way below par.

I think Pep may need to make some radical decisions now or write this season off.

For the good of the club he needs to fuck off or drop his arrogance and his outdated possession is all style of play.
How he gets a free ride for his abysmal champions league record, his transfer dealings and his overall lack of changing tactics when the time is needed is beyond me.

Rafa Benitez
Pochettino
Mancini

get any of these in and we improve

Have to agree. Although I think we all knew as fans watching Kompany, Fernandinho, Silva, Aguero ect all these are one of a kind and to replace this calibre of player is a huge huge task.
