Spurs (A) - Post-Match Thread

Fuck all to do with Pep(or Mourinho) either of those goals we conceded, errors all over the pitch, all game long. Not good enough from the players, blaming it all on the manager after performances like those is the worst thing to do. It gives some of them the opportunity to pretend they did their bit, when they were all well under the standard.

I'm also starting to think we need to start playing Steffen when we play Spurs, he always seems to lose his head against them. Weird how similar most of their goals against him have been in the past few seasons. First goal was fair enough, no pressure on Dombele and Laporte got drawn into Kane too much. He probably right to come out because you'd back Son to score there, even if he had stayed on his line to save it. That second goal though, it was obvious the chance to pressure the player receiving the ball had passed but he came out anyway in a panic.

Spurs didn't play well at all for me, let Sky hype them up though.

Our inverted wingers are a huge negative and our high fullbacks are not causing the opposition any issues BUT causing us all sorts of problems

Lots of possession and create very very little of note.

This was coming last season and now its well and truly imbedded .........it was constantly talked about in the sumer transfer threads that we needed more -we got the centre half but Torres hasnt replaced a peak Sane and wont, our midfield is wide open with Ferna now too old to start and leaving either an option fo GUndogan or Rodri (both who are shit)....an ageing Aguero not replaced and Mahrez stinking out the place nearly everytime he steps on the field

We won finish top 4 this season -not even close Spurs, Liverpool, Chelsea ,Leicester all clearly better than us.

we are nearer to utd's level than we are to those 4

Play less fifa career mate. It’s not that easy, when we got aguero etc you can also say that other teams were a lot weaker. In the last 3-4+ yrs epl has exploded and even mid table teams are buying 40mill+ players. We looked a lot better back then because aside from United when fergie was there we didn’t have too much of a challenge imo
 
Thought we were very good first half but again drifted off after the break and when the second went in we effectively threw the towel in, there didn’t seem that actual belief of years gone by that we could get back in the game.

Once again, their keeper hasn’t been worked anywhere near enough, Spuds to their credit worked their arses off, were organised and defended really well blocking shots not allowing us to get any crosses in, etc.

It’s not good, there’s plenty for us to work on for sure, I certainly don’t think it’s as bad as many on here are making out, but we’re certainly some way from our threatening best.
 
The only three that showed anything for me were KDB, Jesus & Rodri.The rest were woeful.

If Ederson stayson his line the first goal doesn't bloody happen, was good movement by Kane to set it up, so fair play to them but Ederson didn't need to come rushing out which he tends to do in big games.

We need another proper central midfielder to help Kev if we aren't going to start Foden there for whatever reason which I think is a mistake by Pep not to give Foden ganes, a left back, a replacement for Mahrez which I think we have lined up, and a striker to replace Aguero as he ages at a minimum to refresh the squad. Our midfield is pedestrian and it's all side ways and backwards passes once we go behind and teams park the bus.

Incredibly frustrating, the disallowed goal knocked the stuffing out of us, but we have to be better then that.
 
He was outthought. Spuds played us perfectly just like Leicester and to be honest we don’t look that difficult to beat. We had more than enough of the ball but our front five just not good enough. Mind you, our back five didn’t look special either. Eddie needs to practice some bloody basics like positioning. Very disappointing response to the news this week.
 
Crap but he has credit in the bank. This slump has been going on now for too long. Big changes needed.

Oh I have figured out why Pep continues to play FFS and Gundo. They take the flak each week while Pep gets a pass....genius
 
Game after game, we are playing against 11 men behind the ball. We have to move the ball more quickly but we have had several injuries and have a few not in form. Today's scapegoat Mahrez was just as poor as Kev and Bern who escape criticism. It will be a long season for sure and the matchday thread remains embarrassing. Fair play to Spurs who carried out instructions to the letter.
 
Sell half of the squad. they don't just care anymore. Mahrez, Jesus, Rodri, zinchenko, Gündo, Mendy , Bernardo. Did I miss anyone?
