Spurs (A) - Post-Match Thread

Up til new year only got rags and blue dippers away as hard games in the prem (with our current form I can tolerate disagreement). 1st Jan get Messi and possibly another striker who can give us another option, maybe an Edin style striker who can mix it in a crowded box. Still might not win but would be a lot better to watch.

But perhaps you and he might see there’s plenty of ground between those two extremes?

Our beautiful football is metamorphosing all too often into fruitless possession. Neither effective nor particularly aesthetic.

Every single PL manager - Noddy and all - seems to know how to beat us. Luckily, a number of them still don‘t possess the resources to convert that knowledge into points.
If every other manager knows how to beat us then why is our record over the last 3 years Champions, Champions, Runners up ?. This season is not normal, we had 7 days pre season after the CL in August. Yesterday was off the back of an international break. Lets see where we are in six or seven weeks time before panicking.

We need to drop the 4-1-2-3 formation this season or until we have a "david". The back 4 need to drop 10 yards as does the 2 cms. We need to decompress the opposition and give our players a chance to find space.
Rodri & kdb make a solid and varied cm base. Let foden play a free role ahead of them. Good luck picking him up when allowed to have a free role. Kev should get more time to pick his passes again and we shouldn't be getting picked off on the counter every match.
Obviously this is only guess work, but we have the players for 4-2-3-1. Gundo/rodri, kev/doyle & foden/bernado. It should also leave space for torres & sterling to run into.
When we are a goal or 2 ahead we can shift back into a possession based 4-1-2-3 but to start the match let's open up the pitch and trust our players to defend and attack. They are good enough.

You’ll never stop the flappers and the JCL’s from panicking. Don’t forget the latter lot didn’t sign up to this to see us lose away to the league leaders in a match we dominated

Stop being so sensible and offering a logical take on things!! That doesn’t tend to go down well in these parts!!

But don’t you think that is what the opponents want. If they don’t want to be deep they would press higher up the pitch so we don’t progress with the ball.

With it looking like we only have KDB capable of creating anything in the final third not sure I want him playing deeper back towards our own goal. Including Foden should ease the pressure on KDB to create everything mind.
