Spurs (H) | PL | Post Match Thread

Rest of the 2024 fixtures:
  • H - Feyenoord, Forest, Rags, Everton
  • A - Bus Wreckers, Palace, Juventus, Villa, Leicester
We will definitely lose at the BW’s and Juventus. Not hopeful for much from the rest either.

I hope we have at least 3 top players lined up for purchase in January to give us a fighting chance in the FA Cup.

I don’t think we spend in January have a feeling they are keeping the war chest just in case we lose the 115 and the points deduction gets us relegated, the money we have will pay the players wages to get us back in the premier league next season. Either that or we blow a shit load of cash on who is anybody’s guess.

All these posts about "Pep won't change, he only knows one way of playing", bollocks.
Anyone thinking that needs removing from a football forum. Unfortunately, he is applying the shit way.
Pre the Trebble and since he arrived, the Pep way was, possession based, passing securely and quickly and often, ant like movement, tiring opponents out, recovering to ball quickly in 2s and 3s etc. Then success, The Treble, the following season we lost our shape, our work ethic, our system. Yes we hung on to win a 4th! but the trajectory was evident and it's come home to roost in abundance. Injuries speeding the process up, along with aged and not good enough players. A perfect shit storm.
Perhaps it's managed and we're recalibrating and timing a new look team with the end of the charges and new stand? But the fall off from what was worked towards, is vast.

Good points and hard to disagree. Also, the turnaround required to challenge looks vast now. I'm hoping yesterday was the low point of the season. If things don't rapidly improve there may be more of the same.

Some good points but describing a 4th consecutive PL title as a bauble isn't one of them.

I wrote a bit of a hissy fit post in the match thread at 3-0…so taken a few deep breaths since then.

It took us 7+ hours to drive there today. It usually takes 4/4.5hrs. With 4 kids. As we do every home game (to be fair, kids don’t do weekdays, though I do). My boys are 15 and 12 and had to push the car a couple of times in the borders as the snow hit and the A702 was hit with the blizzard. It probably wasn’t good parenting to put us all at risk to be honest, the roads were lethal.

We’re now at Carlisle on the way back, if the roads are halfway decent it’s another couple of hours out to East Lothian.

But that was dogshit. Utter dogshit.

Like I said in my other post, I’ve barely missed a home game in 40 years. I was there at Lincoln when we let in 4. And Anfield for both games when we let in 10 in the space of 5 days. But tonight was dogshit.

What annoys me is the players we had our tonight have won everything. I’m not hacked off at Craig Russell, Ged Brannan, Martyn Margetson or (showing my age) Gary Fleming. They’d not won a thing, they had nothing to prove, they did their best.

Tonight, I didn’t feel that team did their best and that’s unforgivable.

Anyway, rant over. Back to the M6 and M74 and getting home wired from the coffee whilst the players have been asleep for hours and I carry an 8 year old to her bed.

Melodramatic I know and I’ll be there midweek as always but I’m royally f*cked off tonight, more than I should be.
