Spurs (H) | PL | Post Match Thread

I agree about Doku and Savinho but the likes of Palmer, Lavia, Porro, Harwood-Bellis, Rodgers and McAtee all had potential and failed to make it here.

I just think it’s a flaw in the system when we’re spending over £80 million on two players who are ‘potential’ and letting academy graduates of similar or better quality leave the club.
Doku and Sav are icing on the cake type players........we can afford to give them time...Doku for me has already shown enough that he can play here last season and he is currently injured so Im not sure as why eh is getting invovled in any discussion about our play this season. We can afford o wait on those two and they are not the probelm

Its the wastes of money on Nunes, Phillips, bringing Gundo back that are the mistakes as this is where the problem lies

I very much doubt the players are hurting as much as the fans
I think you find they will be....one thing about our players is their professional pride...if you havent seen that over the last 8 seasons you underestimate them and you underestimate how much Pep will be hurting and making sure they know it...

I tell you what, if your reply was the only kind on here what would be the point of coming on? We know what we achieved and we respect the efforts of all concerned. But the evidence of our own eyes tell us something has gone badly wrong, which is only partly explained by unfortunate injuries. The second half against Brighton and most of yesterday's game was pre takeover City. Are we not allowed to ask for reason why?
I find it easier to ignore all these types of posts attacking people for looking at what is going wrong by supposedly "bigger blues."

I'm not expecting too much in the way of significant incomings in January so the summer window is going to be key. The problem there is that we aren't looking to add one marquee / top level signing but several. Having plenty of money helps but it doesn't guarantee that the club will meet it's objectives.

Letting to squad get to the stage where it needs a big rebuild rather than adding and refreshing in stages is negligence on a huge scale.

A lot on here don't rate Doku but I think he's been a big miss these last few weeks. Miles better than Savio.

I think Pep needs to adapt while we dont have the players...

he needs to sit the midfield and defence 5-10 yds deeper...our fullbacks are too high and rico lewis and GUndo are on the edge of the opponents box when we lose the ball and get ran past in the first 5 yds and never recover....and now we dont have walker's pace or rodri's reading of the game to cover the defence who suddenly find its then a 3 or 4 or 2 in favour of the attackers.
The added advantage to this is to bring the opponents to you which leaves space behind their defence for one of the quickest attackers in world football with players like Gundo, KDB who can play those through balls
Spot on, City need to stop conceding goals and getting caught on the counter. Currently we are far too easy to play against, obviously injuries are n't helping, but as you say Pep needs to be more pragmatic and play a system where we get results.

Less than two years ago we were losing 2-0 to Tottenham at the Etihad but Mahrez rose from the bench and turned the tide in our favour

That's the biggest difference for me because at some point our poor recruitment was going to be exposed

Yes we've got injuries but even with everyone fit our bench looks weaker and certainly doesn't look full of goals

would it be fair to say that our players seem a little.. disappointed in one another. there are less gestures of support. less pick-em-ups when a player makes a mistake. more body language displays of annoyance with one another. they almost seem universally annoyed with their fellow teammates. that's the real worrying thing. when we concede so many goals and so many of the exact pathetic counter attack goal, seeing players who week in week out do a shit job at recovering would start to grind on you if you were a fellow defender. stones seemed absolutely done with kyle. bernardo seemed mad with gundo.
Gundo spent a lot of the game pointing at players to cover gaps as he trailed in the wake of an opponent. Sadly he is fast turning into a classic example of they never should come back.

The signings of Phillips and Nunes were an absolutely liberty then and look even worse now.
