Spurs (H) | PL | Post Match Thread

I have just watched the game in full.
The first 2 goals were Gvardiol mistakes. He has been played a lot this season and would normally rotate with Ake in that full back position but Ake gas been injured. He is still young and playing in an alien position, still learning. I don't want to be to hard on him, he has scored some important goals for us.
The last two goals were breakaway with us pressing higher because we had to try to get back into the game.
Our midfield is obviously not good enough. We can all see that Gundogan cannot play the defensive midfield role. We have to remember that his game is sneaking into the box and scoring goals but he cannot leave his post to do that with this midfield. Rico is not ready to carry the burden in there. Kovacic has covered Rodri's loss for us but again he is not a defensive midfielder. He is out for at least a month. It has been suggested that Stones could fill that role, however without Ridri there he would also look lost.
Up front we have good players but no one to supply the right balls to them. It showed when Kev came on just how much we need his vision. 3 good chances created in 10 minutes. Foden has not stepped up to that role.
So yes, a rebuild is necessary but in January I think we need two midfield players, one defensive and one attacking. When the injuries get sorted out we will be okay until the end of the season. Walker is a problem but we can cover that position with Akanji and Lewis until the summer. Walker can play when we play the lesser teams. We do have Bobb coming back and the young midfielder from Argentina in January, when hopefully we will have a fit squad.
I think we will struggle to win anything this season if we do it will be a bonus.
I love this club and have followed them for 66 years and have seen the ups and downs.it hurts me to see this happening to a wonderful group of players who have given us so much.
Pep will give us a winning team again next year.
Let's just support them through this.

It shows how high we have risen in the last decade when the whole world is reporting our recent losses.
Every team will fancy their chances against us at the moment as there will never be a better time to play us.
I think those of us who have been here before won’t be as affected by our recent losses as much as the younger fans will be.
I’m sure we will find a solution at some point but we have to be realistic that a rebuild is going to take time.
Confidence is pretty much everything
Reliable players making basic mistakes time and time again shows we are lacking in this area massively.
The one thing above all other that fucks me off is it had to be spursy the team that gets more piss taking than the rags of late.

I actually think we will give the dippers a game next week based on nothing more than we can’t be any worse.

But please pep don’t play Kyle fucking walker.

+1 to your post.
And I agree that the first two goals would not have occured absent mistakes from Gvardiol. But both goals should have been stopped even given Gvardiol's errors, IMO.

For the first, Gundo points at Maddison and lets him go - somehow expecting that Stones - who is in no position to cover and isn't even looking at Gundo - will pick up. Probably Madison scores anyway - even if Gundo continues to track - b/c Gundo is several paces behind Maddison and won't be able to stop the pass to him.

For the second, stupid blind pass into mid by Gvardiol is the primary cause. But once the ball turns over, I think Lewis makes a big mistake by not closing on the ball. Lewis has plenty of cover around him - but decides to retreat for some reason - affording the attacker all sorts of free time on the ball.

Gvardiol mostly at fault for the first two goals - but plenty of blame to go around.

No need to get out of your pram about it.
Just accept that things go in cycles and this team, who have give us never ending pleasures with the treble and four in a row, have come to the end of theirs.
Why do you think Pep has signed on for two more years? Because he knows the team needs a rebuild and he wants in.
Just look at the bigger picture.
That new building process should've started before last season kicked off and it's still not underway
If we're going to run with a small squad of 18/19 outfield players, they all need to be top drawer and what we have is plainly not
