Spurs (H) | PL | Post Match Thread

Love this forum. Absolute wet lettuces who know nothing other than being spoilt

For the empty heads, this is football. Sometimes you go through a major slump, the same ones you all enjoy other clubs’ demise when they’re going through it.

We WILL be champions come May.

And then you can all take your faces for a massive dump an apologise.
I'm all for optimism but we aren't winning the league this season. We look shot.

One team well coached, one team all over the place.
No surprise to us despite the media “shock”.
Spurs- can see they do actual coaching- 9 shots, 7 on target, 4 goals. We are far to easy to play and beat these days,

Us- pathetic in all aspects. Do we have a defensive coach, zero desire to put bodies on the line and all over the place. Midfield we all know about, it’s embarrassing now.
But my god, how shit are we up front.
23 shots with only 5 on target and half of those were pathetic attempts. Players not knowing the very basics of football and leaning back time and time again when blazing over.

Walker, Gundogan should not be in our team. Silva, Savinho and Lewis are squad players at best.
Stones, Ake, Akanji too injury prone and 2 need replacing.

We will be 11 points behind the Dippers when they give us a hiding next weekend. Forget the titles, its impossible with our squad, Top 4 is going to be a real battle this season and i would not be surprised if we missed out.

Squad has sadly been neglected with a lack of strengthening our 1st 11 over the last few years and awful transfer activity and its now showing. 1 striker is the entire squad and Zero goals or assists from our wingers and quite possibly one of the worst midfields in the PL sums up the awful mess our last few summers have left us in.

Next week could be a Rags level thumping there
Good points and can't argue with most of that Except Silva: He's no squad player he showed flashes of his old self today. But he needs a Rodri/Kovacic in there with him. It was terrible performance from the team but our injury crisis is ludicrous.

But what else is there that’s the problem. We have lack of quality in midfield to choose from.
Might have to get to a point where we have to turn to Wright/NOR as the personnel we are using at the moment can’t do it.

Pep’s been watching this for the last 5 weeks
exactly the same problems have been there since the start of the season.

I dont think Pep can fix it without the injured players returning.....our midfield is so weak defensively.....we literally have Rodri who is defensive minded....the rest trying to play there are square pegs in round holes......
Gundo - never been defensive even when he was good - now he is just a liability
Kovacic - good at moving forward with the ball but defensively not at it.
Rico Lewis - what is his position? he aint a full abck and he aint good enough to play in that central area

the other options are:
1. Stones - always injured
2. Akanji - weve done it a few times but its playing with fire.
3 Gvardiol - untried - I believe he could play as a 6 but Pep wont just throw him in there

Then there is the young lad OReilly - he has the physicality and at this point it has to be worth trying him...it cant be any worse than any of the other options at present. Play him alongside one of the centre halves (I wouldnt let Gundo anywhere near the pitch for the rest of the season) until Kovacic is back

We had it so good for so long because Rodri was the first name on the team sheet every week. Even after he went down, we failed to invest in a replacement for him.

Then we got 85 mill for Alvarez and didn't replace him.

We have two young wingers who should not be starting every week, and a slow midfield.

The bottom line is that Pep is not a miracle worker, as much as our complacent Board likes to think to the contrary.

Now the rebuild is gargantuan, and that is inexcusable.

Firstly you cannot make that many chances and not convert a single one.

Secondly there is an individual and collective lack of fitness and desire. Some of them look disinterested and too accepting of defeat.

Third Gundog is absolutely finished. He can’t even run.

We need a refresh and a rebuild.

We needed a rebuild in the summer. Now we need a reaction from the board and Pep. Granting us another two seasons doesn't solve any problems. It sparks of the tale wagging the dog. Pep should have signed a 5 year deal, or not at all. He is an excellent coach, he has milked the most out of team, but the rebuild (because we have had 4 poor transfer windows), going to take 3 windows.

And if we don't, will you be on here to apologise?
