Spurs (H) | PL | Post Match Thread

Hate to agree. Whether the club are being overly cautious due to the money criticism when the likes of Chelsea appear to be able to spend what they want on who they want is a possibility. In real terms we haven’t invested in the playing side for 3 years. Most of the signings have been offset against sales. You can get away with it for a while but it finds you out.

To be fair, everything that can go wrong has gone wrong. We have the set up and manager to recognise the issues and do the right thing, but they need to get their finger out in January and this summer.

I'm sure Sam Lee (before the posts, yeah I know people are critical of him but he does have sources) said that Pep had an impact on transfers - preferring City kept money in the coffers than go over our perceived valuations. Would be interesting to get an insight into how the windows are decided.

prime time for those new city fans to leave and support other team
The crowd stuck it out until very close to the final whistle so no blame on tonight's support. That was unbelievably dreadful in all aspects but there were no boos, just a stunned resignation that maybe this team is done.

It's not going to be an easy fix unfortunately.

I’ll say it , still plenty in this team to win major trophies, what pisses me off the most is do we really expect to do 5 in a row? I mean ffs ladies and gentlemen, we’ve just done 4 , a historical achievement, when will you lot be happy ? I’ll take a season of mediocrity all day long - and Pep knows this aswell , yes we need signings , but bear in mind Txiki is off and we are keeping our powder dry for next season when the squad will get a few new faces.
It’s fucking embarrassing tbh listening to some of the fucking entitled wet wipes on here demanding we do five in a row.
Happy clapper I’m certainly not.
Grow a fucking pair.

Love this forum. Absolute wet lettuces who know nothing other than being spoilt

For the empty heads, this is football. Sometimes you go through a major slump, the same ones you all enjoy other clubs’ demise when they’re going through it.

We WILL be champions come May.

And then you can all take your faces for a massive dump an apologise.
A forum means we can all have different opinions without name calling other blues, my opinion is we won’t be champions come May, we may finish 7th or 8th at this rate, only my opinion.

All good things come to an end and this result shows that the end is coming fast.

It happens quickly in sport sometimes when you don't expect it but given the recruitment and the aging of the squad something had to give eventually so I am not surprised we are being cut open by any side with greater speed strength and work ethic than us and I believe a number of clubs in the premiership and in Europe have passed us by now in that regard.

Massive recruitment needed so lets look forward to the next chapter when it comes around.

We will be back I am confident of that but this year and maybe next will be a transition as we say goodbye to many of our stalwarts who have come to an end of their careers at City if not their football career full stop.

We could be FIFTH by the end of next weekend!

For perspective, that Spurs team lost at home to Ipswich! So Spursy!

Same EXACT game plan that beats us every time we lose beat us again today:

Don’t finish our chances
Concede on first break
Lather, Rinse, Repeat.

Looked a shell of the team that won it all in 2023. Just don’t have it if we don’t have the top 14 available and in form, and even then everyone knows we can be overrun on the break.

It definitely will not happen, but we need AT LEAST a new RB, CB or two, at least 3 midfielders and a striker. Between January and July-August Txiki & Hugo need to start writing some cheques and rebuilding this team with some size, strength and speed.

Look around at the strong midfields and they have all three, or at least 2 of the 3 in every player.

Much work to be done inside the club to redefine who City are going to be going forward.

Lastly, I think Pep has to look at himself.

He changed the League when he came to City. People said he couldn’t play his way in the PL and yet with the exception of Liverpool, his ideas have not only been absorbed by other PL and Bundesliga managers, but improved upon by inserting SSS into them.

However, while teaching other teams how to play for 9 years, they have not only learned the lesson, but understand the weaknesses and, more importantly, how to exploit the system.

Pep has tweaked things, and we have lauded those tweaks, but they have merely spackled over the cracks of a rapidly aging team.

Today, every crack was laid bare and the weaknesses of certain players were highlighted by Spurs players who were hungrier, more aggressive, first to every ball, and who know where the goal is.

Today, nobody covered themselves in glory, but more importantly the players whose glory days are behind them was on full display.

As I’ve said repeatedly, we need more size, strength and speed in our team, but when Pep is winning everything people come back over the top with “In Pep We Trust.”

Yep, his historical record is ridiculous, but anyone still ignoring the obvious, both with Pep and the squad, is whistling past the graveyard. History is in the rearview mirror, but that is where most Spurs players saw their marker today.

Not a good day at the office and if that spectacle didn’t light a fire under ownership and executive management, nothing will.

A few players are STEALING A LIVING at City at the moment, and they know who they are.

Bigger, stronger, faster…there endeth the lesson. Go in peace.
Wish I could like this post more than once!!!!!

Oh yer the crowd tonight was true fans
It’s just so many young lads on this forum saying they are going to support other team now. How fragile are they

We used to loose to Middlesbrough 8-1
anyone here remember ?

Peps teams need to play with high intensity and need legs around the pitch and in midfield in particular.

We don't have that at all in midfield as we have players getting on in age and players that aren't capable of going through the work that's needed.
The injury thing and drop off was bound to happen at some point after 4 in a row.

5 straight losses, including some shocking scorelines. No matter how anyone puts it, it's just unacceptable for a team aiming to be the best in the world. If we are a serious club, which I certainly think we are, we should expect some heads to start rolling from the squad. The league is gone so Pep should just tell the players clearly not up for it that their time in the club is up and play some youth players until we get a few back from injuries. The players have won it all and have rightfully been celebrated for doing so, but thats history and the present reality is that they are currently performing worse than any other City team has in the last decade. Some statements in squad selections going forward need to be made. Anything else is just putting out a statement that these performances are acceptable.

I was going to single out players but won’t ,
Collectively we win together we lose together, but that was shambolic simply not good enough , get away from the Rodri factor it’s not helping. I’m in work tomorrow at 5am they should be doing the same . I’ll deal getting beat I’m more than used to it but the body language and effort was utter pathetic. There’s no excuses anymore simple at that this is the brutal truth . The club , the players need to come down a peg or two and remember where we’ve come from.
We won the league with less gifted talent but they got there with guts and determination and spirit which is massively lacking at the moment.

Just got beat by a far better side on the day
Number of players in City's looking jaded
Not sure if there is a quick fix
Roll on 2025/2026

The problem that is killing us is Peps loyalty to some of these players. Walkers legs have gone but Pep convinced him to stay. Gundo is to slow but Pep won’t drop him. Bernardo is having an awful season. Stone can’t stay fit.

It’s earned loyalty from what they’ve done for Pep , titles etc but age and the amount of games they’ve played has caught up. They are not the players they used to be

Well to get top 4 for CL football next season of which he craves badly, there needs be a few quid spent in January that’s for sure
