Spurs (H) | PL | Post Match Thread

The unreadiness of our team for that game today was epitomised when they were all arsing around before kick off doing an unplanned and silly Guard of Honour for Rodri, when he’d already done his big presentation on the pitch, all of them laughing and joking.

I was worried straight away when I saw that happen. My immediate thought was, ‘that is fucking not the sign of a team who are serious about this game after losing four in a row’.

It was like something you do at the end of a match after you’ve won.

And so it materialised! Every single one of them played like they were not ready for that game and they were not serious enough about the game after losing four in a row.

Tactics and quality to one side, they played like they weren’t focused. In the key minutes of the game when we were still in it, every single 50:50 was won by Spurs, especially in midfield.

First time I’ve seen that under Pep. That sort of thing can’t happen at this club with the standards we’ve set. We can lose, we can be shit, we can even be out of form for a stretch of games and be on a losing run… but it’s fucking unacceptable to not take the game as seriously as it should be taken.

That cannot happen again!

It will turn around always does at least you give the spuds the highlight of the season ........maybe if the twats turned up for the other 30 odd games they could come close to winning something

Most saw this coming. Our league position could actually be a lot worse. Pep hasn’t got the players to fix this. Teams need a regular quality refresh and aging players have to be replaced.
I do continue to wonder whether the 115 has played a part in holding us back along with our seriously questionable recruitment.
Look at the last 5 years nett spend. We’re 11th and playing like a side normally in that position.
Chavs on the up- 5 year nett spend £800m, Scum shit - £550m, Arse £470m, Spuds - £460m, even Spammers, Forrest and Palace spent more. We’ve got a £139m nett spend over the last 5 seasons (including this one) by the way.

This years going to be a slog and Pep knew this when he extended.

Put your blue specs on. Even if we don’t get top four the money from the Club World Cup compensates for a year out of the Chumps Lge.

Just continue to trust and support. Our owners have not extended the ground to host a mediocre mid- table team. If Tolmie and Stefan are right we will be clear and flush, we will rebuild and we will put this right.

Liverpool face our challenge next season, Chelsea will continue to rise coz they have spent the most, Spuds and Arse will remain also rans and the scum will always be shit.

'In eight years we have never lived this kind of situation'

Man City boss Pep Guardiola speaking to BBC Radio 5 Live: "In this moment we are fragile defensively. We started really well as normal but we could not score and then after that we conceded. After that we conceded some more which is difficult for our emotions right now.

"In eight years we have never lived this kind of situation. Now we have to live it and break it winning the next games, especially the next one. Now we see things in one way, maybe in a few weeks we see it differently."

On if the players are struggling: "Of course. We are happy when we win and concerned when we don't win. It's normal. There would be a problem if they were not worried or I am not worried.

"We are not used to doing this situation but life is like this. Sometimes it happens and we have to accept it. It is what it is now and we will stand up and do it."

On technical issues: "I would say that it is not a question of tactics when you lose these types of games. There are details of course but this situation is how you react in some moments. And things are different when you lose three league games in a row."

On his new deal and feeling the challenge: "The fire is when you win a lot of games, which is better than when you are losing, but we accept this. We have to move forward and break it and try."

Manchester City

Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola told Sky Sports: "We do not expect opponents to not create chances and score goals. We're in the moment. We started really well, we had chances and after the first time they arrive we concede. Then it's a bit more difficult to come back.

"Chances were there. The moment they create the chances the build-up, we coudn't handle the duels like normally. Now we're struggling a little bit.

"It cannot happen. When you play top level teams we can concede chances but it's part of process. In our situation it's a bit tougher.

"I have to see the situation. The players came back late [from internationals]. There were a few reasons we're not able to be consistent. Now the balance is not in the right moment. But it happened. We have to do it, talk and on Tuesday against Feyenoord have the chance to try.

"Of course Rodri is important but we knew that for many months. But Stones can only play 45 minutes. Jack has been injured many times. Kevin, two months and five months.

"We have to come back and freshen our minds. The season is so long. Many things can happen.

"Before the game I didn't know what will happen today. So I don't know what will happen at Anfield. Everyone knows the situation is new for us. We struggled more without the ball. I don't know how many chances we created. Our game was there."
Sound from Pep. It's an interesting time. I'd love a season ticket this year. I enjoy the games more when the opposition. Think they've a chance.

Absolute wank. I think we had less shots on target than shots they scored from. Easier to tear apart than a paper bag, less creativity than I've seen in a Pep team ever and the positional sense of a gang of paralytic parrots.

Fair few need dropping as they're consistently making the wrong calls. Trouble is, is it's a lot of them and we can't replace them all. But what we can do is get Kev in there and get Jack in there and try and have a bit of control.

It's too much for Savinho, gundo is trying but he looks a yard off the pace, gvardiol I was surprised by his poor turnout but he was worse than Walker...

We seem unsure on when to press as we know that pressing and seeing the ball go long means we're in trouble. It creates huge gaps as one or two go and the rest don't.

Far too much leaving it to the next guy, somebody else can take accountability. If we lose the next two then we're on for a very difficult season and probably a trophyless one.

I don't see that fire, I don't see the right application, I don't see that creativity let alone the belief that we're going to win. Pep has a job now, remove the pressure, get some lights around the place and win the next game. It can switch back that easily but that longer it goes on now the harder it will get.
Apart from that ok?
