Still pissed most about Stones & Rico for the first goal, absolute shite. Not good enough at this level. Both can hold bench next match
My thoughts too, we were dominated in midfield as they gave us no roomToday Spurs had a strong 3 man midfield (Sarr Bentancur Palhinha) in a formation that pushed up against our 1 man midfield (Nico) who needed support from his midfield teammates (Reijnders Cherki) who were tasked with supporting attack.
Did Pep see that Spurs were dominating midfield and ignored it (not wanting to admit mistakes) or did he think that we'd play over/around them.
We had 60% possession but the 40% for Spurs was used better.
Want to beat City?
Either 1) play high line have forwards press with close midfield backup and force errors as today
Or 2) sit deep with packed defence and midfield in 4-5-1 and when City lose the ball hoof it to rapid forwards to chase and win set piece chances
Lack of pace killed us in all areas of the pitch yesterday. It was better after Foden and Doku came on but that was too late.Unfortunately, Pep is stubborn and doesn't learn from his mistakes, no matter how many players he changes. A sdefense line up that lacks strong, quick-response players to counter attacks, which is a huge mistake against teams like Tottenham. Everyone knows how Tottenham play. We lost to Al Hilal in the same way. So why does Pep insist on playing the same way without using the right players to execute the plan?
Rico is great at supporting the attack, but he lacks defensive capabilities, and is often outplayed due to his short stature. The combination of Dias and Stones, who are not very fast, is a deadly combination against speedy players.
Add to that the recklessness in front of the opponent's goal. We could have scored because we had better chances, but we missed them all, while the opponent doesn't miss half chances. So there is a problem with concentration, discipline, and perhaps also mental focus.
100%I agree with you about Dias.
Spend well, here lies the problem. We haven’t spent well for quite a while, out of the new signings in the last 2;windows, 2 were brought off today and 2 were nowhere near the starting line upFucked.
I love the man but let’s face it, Pep has done fuck all in the past ten months to solve any of our issues.
Weak as fuck, always looking to concede on the break and can’t break down any solid defences.
We will fight for CL place this season and I hope we get it and can maybe try again for the title next season if we spend well.
We should have been a couple up before they scored.I thought we were alright until RAN went off, then we conceded and looked like we’d never seen a football before after that. The second half in particular was wretched from players of this quality. Spurs didn’t have to get out of second gear to keep us quiet.
Good luck with that.we are a work in progress
I think the players just need to get used to each other
Once they do we will be a great team
I hate losing, and especially against any of the cartel. I thought there was a full team of poor performances yesterday. It was Spurs 7th game including pre-season and our 3rd. They looked fitter, faster and more up for a graft. We always seem to start every season under-cooked? I know we usually get off to a decent start, but yesterday we weren't at it.
4 new signings were brought off all be it one with an injury one was left sitting on the bench and 2 are out on loan. We are buying quantity not qualitySpend well, here lies the problem.
