It was better than that, we beat them 3:0 in the final and went to their place and beat them 3:0 again. My favourite ever city goal was the Sane goal. Every player was magic.

That Sane goal, from the first pass to final touch, is one of the best I've ever seen. One-touch football doesn't get any better.

Been thinking about Saturdays result and performance and it wasn't really surprising looking at the team:

Trafford- new
Lewis- not a regular starter
Ait Nouri- new
Dias- regular
Stones- missed virtually all of last season
Gonzalez- played a handful of games
Reijnders- new
Bobb- out all last season
Marmoush- half a season, not a regular starter
Cherki- new
Haaland- regular

So 2 regulars in that 11, a totally new side which could take a long time to properly gel. In hindsight it was a mistake by Pep to play such an inexperienced side, I'm expecting a bit different at Brighton

Totally correct and when its laid out like that its quite eye opening, add the average age of 24 into the mix. Hopefully if a fit rodri comes back into the heart of that lots of cracks will be smoothed in and we should start to move forward.

There's a lot more to like about the first hour of that performance than it felt on Saturday. The two goals were soft from a defensive POV, but equally we created some great chances and some great chances to create chances. The team feels 5-10% off in terms of its fitness/rhythm, plus we're bedding in a lot of new players. When they click which I suspect they will after first int break we'll be a very dangerous side.

I can see this team going on a run in the autumn/winter months which will see us right at the top of the table. I said to someone undefeated from second int break until the turn of the year.

I would say I am amazed at how terrible some of the posts across the forum have been. But there are an awful lot of wankers on here nowadays.
Yes we did not pay well but the number of “city fans” posting utter shit and aggression is just unbelievable. I am thinking of leaving again as I just don’t get this toxic way of interacting any more.

If everybody was in agreement then no need for a forum. Shit, agrression, wankers are not friendly terms and that in itself is somewhat toxic. Moderators are employed to ensure people don't overstep the mark so if you don't wish to debate then don't interact and fair play to you if that is your choice.

I think Cherki is a great player and of course Rodri is world-class but the balance in the team is wrong. We don't have enough pace, especially in the back line. Kusanov needs to play for starters. It's a shame Savinho has not worked out because he would have helped.

The current team has more pace than the Treble winners, except for Lewis.

People love to explain our problems with lack of pace, which also was behind the criticisms of Gundo and Rodri several years ago, and last season too (replace Rodri with Bernie). This is a bit simplistic, especially after 9 years of Pep Guardiola, the manager who favours technique and intelligence over physicality. (Maybe this is also the reason why some think Pep is finished when the results aren't there: we seem too slow...)

De Bruyne was never the fastest but was not slow. Foden is fast and has to start. I agree that technique is more important but you need some players who can cover ground as well.

I agree it didnt help but some things were alarming. Bernardo who only came on was left dust a couple of times.

Agreed. I think the inverted fullbacks has run its course as a tactic. Teams just play long diagonals into the space behind the fullbacks. Pep needs to change. We looked better when a half fit Rodri came on with Foden. I am still optimistic. Pace is not the total answer. United have lots of very fast headless chickens and look at the state they are in.

Football is simple and if the vast number of blues think we played a terrible game, most likely we did. The match stats show that City's xG was 1.51. Spurs looked very comfortable to me.

I disagree wholeheartedly. Football is and will always be framed by the result. It's normal that most people's perceptions of the match on first watch will be incredibly negative. Having watched it back, City should've been leading by two goals by the time Spurs score their first. They should have had a nailed on penalty early in the second half. They should've scored with the last corner of the first half too. So no, it's not that simple.

We weren't poor, but we couldn't control the game. We didn't dominate them, as we struggled with their press.

Bernardo wasn't in form vs Spurs, mostly in advanced positions, but he has shown he's more press-resistant than most players.

Agree all that and would just add the best out ball seemed to be to the left where Marmoush was but he couldn't take advantage. Day a really good winger could have enjoyed.
