Spurs (h) pre-match thread

We sign England's most promising young defender for a fee in the region of 50 million pounds. Yet despite this and despite the abject performances of our reserve left back playing at centre half - several people on this thread have designed teams with just 3 defenders and one of them is our reserve left back. If somebody had told me last year that this was going to happen id have laughed in their faces and called them a rag. The lines are now so blurred it seems literally anything goes. Sad times indeed.

Not only that, but we're playing against two attacking full backs who tore us a new one a couple of months ago. Unbelievable Jeff.

I have a theory of why we play 3 at the back. Maybe Guardiola doesn't rate any of them so feels the less on the pitch the better?

People have short memories on here. Anyone who wants Kolarov anywhere near the fucking team against Spurs has obviously forgot how fucking shite he played against them in October where he scored an own goal. Kolarov against teams like Spurs is a recipe for disaster.

I think G.Jesus should start from of the bench big burden to through him at the start against Spurs

Completely agree! The young lad shouldn't be here to fix the team's problems. Needs a good timing to field Jesus, Pep will handle that.

Kompany cannot be matchfit. We need to be realistic there. This is not his match, not vs spurs. No way.
I vote for 150% matchfit players with a sharp attitude. Ota and Kola did well as CBs and we should trust them. I also wouldn't line a back 3. We need better defending CBs for that system. Stones is low on confidence right now.

Bravo? Well. I wouldn't mind Caballero, both of them will do. But if Pep drops Bravo now just to "cheer up" people on the seats formerly called supporters - refusing to support the team lined-up by their manager - Bravo won't come back this season, Pep would have weakened his position and in the moment Caballero concedes we will have the 'two worst keepers in the league by a mile' in the media and on here.

Pep has to go the tough way and stick to Bravo. And he should take some time in the presser to back Bravo, talking about defending as a team and the keeper just being the last link. Comparing keepers over the last decades on ifs and woulds is just pure nonsense. Nobody ever knows if a different keeper would have saved this or that ball or not. It's irrelevant. And ridiculous.

Pep did well by team building (to cinema last afternoon - that's what the Telegraph article was about).
The players are skilled enough to win. Sunday is only about attitude.
And the players should really lift the ground by their body language and readiness, not by their line-up.
Get behind the team.

what is there to hate about him? do you know something we don't?
I don't hate any city player, for instance kolorov gets me mad as does clichy but I don't hate them. rather we had other players than them but I know they are trying their best so to hate them would be wrong. Bravo I'm sure is trying his best but at this time willy is the better option, I know that's hard for you but he is. btw that's not just me saying it, I get why you pick my posts out but it really isn't just me. the whole of football know we've dropped one and our true haters love it. I want to win games, I want the best 11 to take to the field. what the fuck is wrong with that.? try it sometime.

I always back our players but Bravo's performance last week had me slagging him off for days. It was shockingly bad. Gotta start with Willy this weekend.

Bravo and kolarov are the weak links in our team. I'm pretty sure pochettino will realise this. What I find frightening is that many of our own fans don't.

I disagree. On current form I'd far prefer Kolarov at CB than Stones.

If it was up to me we'd play Kompany and Otamendi though so it's moot.

Bill you quite clearly are knocking Bravo, we all know you've hated him since 4 minutes into his debut, so just stop with the pretence.

The idea that Kompany and Jesus being on the pitch would get absolutely no response from the crowd if Bravo was in goal is laughable even from you.
saved me the bother

I actually think Stones has been dire this season after the first 4 or 5 weeks of the season. Admittedly he is playing with Otamendi, Kolarov etc but this is a supposed £50m player. Surely he can do better. I'd probably go with a back 3 so we can get an extra man in midfield and also up with Aguero (3-5-2):

Caballero
Kompany
Otamendi
Stones
Sterling
Fernando
KDB
Delph
Sane
Jesus
Aguero

Think Stones needs dropping for this one after his disaster vs Everton. Lets get VK back paired with Otamendi, maybe start also with jesus and jesus with Delph perhaps.

All of our centre back acquisitions last 2 seasons have been abysmal. Everton must be laughing there arses off, they smack us 4 nil and rob us of £50 million for Stones.

Bravo is a quality keeper and will prove it. Kolarov is quality too although I concede he can be exposed by a quick player.

It's only a matter of time before this City squad clicks
