Yes, but they won't be able to change as many of their players as the players on their bench are not as good as ours...we can bring in 3/4 as good as the starters and they can't...that gives us the opportunity to freshen things up and keep the same level of quality on the pitch. So let's use that to our advantage.
Totally agree but I took the first line of your post to read differently

The problem I see, real or not, is whether we have the mental resources to go again. SPurs may have smaller playing resources but they don't have to deal with the impact of a massive defeat.

It maybe good to play again so soon. No one knows how the players will react and what the best way to deal with it is. Do we reshuffle the side? We also have to be aware that the players are running low on resources and there are big games to come.

If this was a one off game in the league, or we had won last night I'd be very confident but now we have a huge unknown thrown into the equation. I would say we need a mix of experienced players and fresh legs. And we need to use our subs very well.

Course they have the mental resources. Have you been watching the last seasons, under Pep.
We go again every fucking time we have a set back.

Yes. Remember Christmas and the back to back defeats.

I can't think of anything off the top of my head right now, but generally in football, a dominant side who lose a key game can be shaken by a bad result. So much of football is down to mentality. I know this is a great group of players but this is an extra problem to deal with in this game. If you like you can take it as a slight against the City squad but it wasn't meant that way

I wasn't taking it a a slight. Just that all this amateur psychology does my head in.
Pep will have the players primed and I'm sure they will want to win the league even more.

I've now developed overnight a massive dose of cityitus. Feelings of dread that we're just having the league cup only this season. I've started on the antibiotics.

We need to freshen things up a bit, guys must be shattered physically after last night and we play at 12.30 on Saturday...bloody nonsense.
I'd drop Ederson, been below par for weeks now. I've never understood the love-in with him, it's like he is beyond criticism despite the fact he doesn't actually make many big saves. The first 2 goals he lost to Son over both games were poor. Give Muric a chance.
Bring in Danilo and Otamendi at the back for
Laporte and Walker.
Start Fernandinho in place of Gundogan as he will be fresher.
Have Leroy starting ahead of David Silva
Might even take Jesus over Kun to start....bring Kun on if things are not going as planned.

I have to agree with you about Ederson, i've never understood all the hype about him, he's great playing it out from the back but when it comes to saving shots his attemps sometimes seem a bit halfhearted to say the least.

A bad defeat in a crucial game has the capacity to knock a team off course regardless of motivation and determination.

Two Cup Finals ahead. Win those and I think we will be very well placed to do the Treble.
