To be fair, Having a bunch of cloggers in midfield works for Liverpool, at least your cloggers have some actual talent.

Whilst I think we will win comfortably, there’s always a chance, if we’re not 100%, Spurs are capable of taking points from us here. Last year Liverpool was too close for anybody’s liking. Spurs need to do the honourable thing and roll over for the sake of the league, a scouse title needs to be ruled out by about christmas this season just to shut those unbearable cultists up.

Of course their midfield works for them because they largely bypass their midfield by hoofing it long at every opportunity.

We will plan to use "physicality" in our midfield. It is an essential part of our match management. As is the cheating. Annoyingness. And general gamesmanship. Particularly if we are losing.

Whilst I agree with your sentiment about Liverpool, you won't need us to roll over for you to win the title.

Going to be a difficult game. Spurs are going to be a challenger this season. They are one of the few sides who are capable of beating us at our place. In fact anyone is given freak circumstances, but SPurs have a small but significant chance because they have quality and can defend a lead.

Guardian article today praises City for beating West Ham with great skill and a bit of rough stuff as necessary, quoting Jack Wilshere saying that's what makes City a nightmare to play against and it's what all successful teams do. It's part of the modern game and probably always has been.
So long as City are at least 80% brain and not above 20% brawn they'll be true to the club's traditions and not be like Leeds of the '70s.

(As for Spurs, remember when Ali had a nasty go at De Bruyne two seasons ago and how he took it out on them by that run and thumping shot that almost took the net apart.)

And nearly broke Lloris’ hand.

Would start the same eleven , apart from swapping the silver , Bernardo for Merlin. The little genius will need his minutes managing this season to get the best from him , he was outstanding at West Ham and although we miss Yaya ,Zabs and Vinny , Merlin leaving will really hurt . One of the pioneers form the early days of the take over , will be a sad day for the Premier league and not just MCFC when he retires to his sun lounger in Gran Canaria.
The best player ever to pull on our blue shirt , (apologies to Colin the King)

Generally, we create a lot of chances against Spurs at home. 2017 we scored 2 but should have been 4-5. 2018 scored 4, could have been 6-7. In the CL we scored 4 and should have been 5-6. The only game where we weren't strong in attack was the PL game in April. Pep seems to know how to exploit the defensive weaknesses of Spurs.

Fernandinho hasn't been central to our plans since his injury in February, followed by another injury in April and then another injury with Brazil. He won't replace Rodry, imo.

The main question is Dave or Bernie next to Kevin. Mahrez and Jesus deserve to keep their places in the starting XI. Think Kun isn't sufficiently fit yet to last 90 in such a high intense game and will be on the bench.

The last time we went defensive in the middle against them we lost and no sergio? won't happen
Jo has just got here and angel was awful just 2 weeks ago
Last time we had Walker and Delph playing iirc.
